Europe’s Flagship 💧Hydrogen Project💧27 Jul 2025 19:13
💡 “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
🇪🇺 Europe’s flagship hydrogen project shows what’s possible – when we connect the dots. 🌍💧
⸻
📍 Lingen, Germany – a true hydrogen ecosystem in action:
✅ Green hydrogen production (300 MW by 2027)
✅ Long-distance transport via the 🇩🇪 hydrogen backbone
✅ Salt cavern storage in Gronau-Epe
✅ Industrial use at scale (e.g. Leuna refinery, TotalEnergies contract)
✅ Long-term offtake agreements (30,000 t/year for 15+ years)
✅ Cross-industry collaboration: electrolyzers (PEM & alkaline), storage, pipelines, grid integration
⸻
🔗 And more: 4 members of the Hydrogen Europe Board are involved – proving how vital connected thinking and collaborative leadership are to move the sector forward.
Linde
Sunfire
ITM Power
RWE
In a time of regulatory overload and slow permitting, this project happened anyway – a sign that Europe can lead, when it dares.
⸻
🎙️ Dr. Sopna Sury, RWE Generation COO and project lead, puts it best:
“Why is Lingen seen as Germany’s leading hydrogen site?
Because of the speed and the scale.
Step-by-step, we’re installing 300 MW of electrolysis by 2027 – with ideal local conditions: grid access, offshore wind, and deep expertise.
And we’re not alone: Companies like bp are joining.
What we now need is pragmatic regulation, clear incentives, and infrastructure rollout – to secure the ramp-up.”
📺 As recently shown on national TV: Hydrogen boomtown Lingen is becoming reality – and the local people are proud of it. So are we. 💚
⸻
👏 A special thank you to Dr. Sopna Sury for her vision and execution – and to all partners for staying the course.
🔋 This is what a full hydrogen value chain looks like – and yes, it’s happening in Europe. Imagine how much faster we could go if we cut red tape and moved with purpose.
