While I hope to be wrong and I usually hold everything, sold some stuff yesterday and today (about 30% holdings). In the short term i can't see anything to drive the price up and the debt ceiling is a major issue in my mind driving the market over the next week. Hopefully I can be quick when they settle and buy back in quickly , but until then not sure who would be buying anything in the broad market without some positive news expected? BTW I am always wrong so maybe good time to buy?

And I think the buyback also affects the P/E with 1.2B shares still to buy I think that brings the forward P/E down to about 4.8 ish? but iw2r seems to know the calculations far better.

Ah that calculation makes more sense so lets say price is 46p and earnings is 4 times 2.3p (this Q earnings) that make a P/E of 5 for the year if profits stay the same (there's the question). I am not sure if provisions for bad debts are included in profit but think they are excluded - so is the year going to be that bad. House prices are being resilient. Anyway I have been wrong about Loyds for years so don't do what I do - lol this is the year!!!!

So if profit was 2.5 billionish this Q, x 4Q = 10B profit. Company Valuation is about 30B - that puts the shares on a P/E of 3 for this year! Maybe I have something wrong there? But even going to a P/E of 6 at year end means share price likely to double.

That's it I am a sucker for lloyds but I just gotta buy more..... Im all in - that's usually a good sign for everyone to sell!

LLoyds doing a good job of playing the poor company with a bad outlook to avoid a windfall tax in my books. Hoping the economy will get back to lower inflation and everything calms down - so then they can start talking up the shares and coming clean on how much they are making. You can only hide money in provisions for so long and talk about possible downturns! The facts are 2.3B pre tax profits in Q1! ROTE almost 20% (need to double check that), last P/E before these results P/E of 6.3 and Div of 5% ish, 2 Billion share buyback in full year results! I have had these shares for a long time but the underlying fundamentals are crazy good at the moment. Just need the share price to reflect some of that sweetness.......

Well I kind of thought Minvest was onto something and it seemed to be correct until the CEO had his little tantrum. I sold some RR that day at about 109. To be honest I am surprised it didnt drop more than it has as I expected it to be true to form and drop under a pound. Not sure about all this news minvest is on about - isn't it supposed to be revealed today? Anyway RR always entertaining.

wtf - ratner is right! There's way to say things and then there's ways to say things - and that speech was not the way to say things. I bet his RR investors will be very happy :(

What does it say about analysts when they change their share price target from 90 to 136 in one go? Especially when the share price is already 20 past their target!

Airline shares are on a rip today...... not going to say anything as I might jinx it. Actually will say the opposite - doubt that RR will follow.... :)

Of course they make cars! The Rolls Royce - clue is in the name!!!

After watching this share for 2 years I don't know why I can't get over my desire to to hold long term. I keep worrying I'll miss the big rise but could have made way more just trading its highs and lows..... Frustrating share. But gotta keep holding as the big jump is coming ...............................

I think a lot of people are going to be caught out by believing a major recession is on the way. I can't see it, inflation will drop and interest rates will steady. But what the hell do I know! Anyway loading up RR, IAG and LLOY.

Would love to see that but have a feeling the market is already cooling off for xmas. By cooling I mean less trading not necessarily going lower - just not doing much of anything....

Great news because of the higher tax rate on the rich - they will all buy Rolls Royce company cars to avoid the higher rate. Great news for RR!!! ;)

Just wondering if anyone has knowledge of buying or selling large amounts of shares? Let's say about £100K worth is it better to transact in smaller buys/sells or all at once? Think I might sell RR and buy some wine!!! lol. Actually will hold on my theory that if we were at 150 previously the last 12 months - seems like we are in a better place now. But seriously what do I know, I bought a load of lloys years ago and still waiting to break even. :(

Maybe just maybe now people are starting to think the travel recovery is on. And maybe just maybe we can get some recovery in share price in RR and IAG. Taken a few flights in the last couple months they are all full - the car parks are all full at the airport. I do believe we are at unjustifiably low prices even today. fingers crossed.

I am assuming that shares like RR and IAG generate a lot of income in $ rather than £? Hence investors moving into those stocks in the current environment?
