Why didn't the director buy at 90p, minutes after the opening?

Why pay double that?

This is complicated, because if a bid of say 35p per share is recommended, the share price could go higher in order to reflect some value for SM.

On the other hand, I agree with JTF and Partridge that it is likely that there would be heavy selling by people who just want to get their money back (my own average is now less than 35p) or who have started buying recently and want to lock in a profit - because of the risk of any deal falling through.

The higher the bid, the more likely that is to happen, unless many take the view that since the market had obviously underestimated the value of Tendrara, maybe SM could be worth a lot.

No-one would touch JOG, except for Richard Griffiths, who took a 9.8 percent stake, and me - I bought a more modest holding.
There was an average of about one comment per day.
Yesterday, there must have been hundreds of comments and every poster was convinced it could only go up.
That's the market.

Well, it seems that my choice of name was an act of prescience.

I should explain that the thing about licking lift buttons was a joke made by another poster about a notorious deramper on another company's forum.

Actually, I started averaging down again at 84, but became over-cautious and invested smaller amounts at 75 and 68.5.

As I said, I first invested in JOG in the hope it would be another SQZ.

When SQZ was suspended at 28p, a poster said that it would have to be at least 112p when it came back, yet I was able to buy some for 56p. It then touched 100p (or close to it), before falling to 60p and is now just under 120.

It never pays to chase prices on AIM.

Last time I bought was at 68.5p, but I am annoyed with myself that I didn't buy more at 57!

I remember that one poster said that the JOG BOD have a fine record of preventing leaks, and they have done a good job this time too (unless Richard Griffiths heard something).
As you say, patience is vital.
My impression is that most people give up along the way, battered by company setbacks, share price corrections, and negative posts.
It seems that most people will not stay invested in an AIM company until it is successful.
In other words, they are not even real investors.

It's still cheap, but the profit-takers may move in before long.

Off the top of my head, Abatt, an analyst took a mid-case of 77.5 mmboe and calculated 800p per share, but used a discount of 50 percent and reduced his estimate to 400p.

Using the low-case of 25mmboe, I estimated a value of 250p per share.
And, in spite of today's news, we are at less than half that.

So that broker was predicting 230 when TSD was predicting 30.
Whichever way you look at it, today is a bad day for TSD.
I fear his reputation will never recover.

Based on a broker's estimate of the value of the original find, the full value of just the minimum 25mboe was about 250p per share.

That's before today's news.
