NESF have been increasing dividends but ti share price has reached all time lows, retreating from about 125p 5 years ago to the current about 69p.

Vodafone was another example of high dividend payments with a plunging share price. Just 2 examples out of a number of others.

I am minded to remind you that the total dividend for the current financial year will be about 3.18p and that over 99% of shareholder votes were in favour of buybacks.

The moaning shareholders should learn to respect a vote.

I have highlighted the value of buybacks that is locked into the share price, when you would prefer returns given as a dividend, therefore you can release the buyback 'dividend' from the share price - easy enough to understand.

NO you have not been affected. Monies did not disappear. All excess capital is being returned to shareholders down to a planned CET1 level.

Monies not received by way of dividends will be in the higher share price from buybacks over what it would have been without. You can liquidate returns given by buybacks at any time.

note - Brix was happy to announce the high dividend yield being received when he bought NESF - it is even higher now - the market has rewarded the high dividend payment by giving the business a much lower lower valuation over the years to now have a dividend yield of 12%

Lloyds have made returns to shareholders out of profits by way of dividends and buybacks which give a total return .

Stick to facts - the market values Lloyds at £32 Billion taking into account what the total returns may be in the future as part of that valuation. The market would not give a higher market valuation for each £1 return being given by way of dividend over a £1 return being given by way of buyback

The price per share based on that valuation is dependant on the number of shares.

No I do not know that buybacks will likely be 'gone' - if there were decent betting odds then I would be placing a pound or two on a buyback being announced for 2025.

Also if I said when the share price was at 40p, that I didn't care how low the share price went on maintained profitability, then you should expect me to say the same now - I don't care about the share price until it reaches trading levels.The lower the share price the better for buybacks.
