RE: JST Group ........28 Jun 2021 19:23
....... as you say CB, issued CyanConnode with an order for 33,000 units, in December 2019. The follow-on order, which was placed by Forth Corporation, was for 206,735 Omnimesh Perpetual Software Licences. Not additional smart meters. But it does relate to the order announced during December, 2019.
From the March 2020 RNS:-
" The additional Omnimesh software licences will allow MEA to connect up to 240,000 smart meters to the Omnimesh Head End Server ( HES ) which will serve the Thailand Smart Metro Grid project. The order also includes an Annual Maintenance Contract, for the maintenance of the HES, providing a further recurring revenue stream over an initial five-year period."
The Hardman & Co report, from 4th May, 2021, covers this project in more detail.
From the Hardman report:-
" The initial order for the MEA was for 33,265 smart meter modules, plus associated gateways, services and head-end software licences for these modules. The second order was software-centric and hence directly from Forth Corporation, taking the head-end software licence capacity up to 240,000 devices, plus the associated annual maintenance contract relating to the software licence. The total contract value across the two orders is currently over $3m."
" The next step is expected to be an order for at least the remaining modules and gateways within the 240,000-unit software licence order, i.e. a further 207,000 smart meter modules and associated gateways."
The report goes on to say, concerning progress:-
" That said, much of the initial phase was about confirming the effectiveness of the Omnimesh platform in this region - so there may be larger orders in prospect over the next six to twelve months."
This, I would say refers to the frequency bands of 442 and 447MMHz, mentioned in the RNS dated 30th December, 2019, allocated to the Thai energy utilities by The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission ( NBTC ) of Thailand.
I do not believe that CyanConnode had used these frequency bands before, so there may have been a certain amount of checking/double checking carried out, to make sure that the Omnimesh solution was working to everyone's satisfaction.
The JST Group - Innovation and Excellence report, I believe was published today.
