This is the whole point - the issue I'm talking about is the 'ownership' of Greenland - we know the west needs the strength of the US, but the US can do all they require without taking full control.

My point about NATO was exactly that - if any of the others went for Greenland, theUS are the backbone of NATO and would have to respond - they also have the option to put more military on Greenland. I can't see what changes with a land grab, except destroying NATO and many, many important alliances on the way. A Taiwan land grab would be condemded too.

That's what NATO is (was) for. All the tools are already there. In my view there is absolutely zero justification. Is "Because we need it" okay? So if China said we are taking Greenland because "they need it" - what's the reaction?
