I've learned the hard way to take my profits when I can. This week has been a very good week and I will no doubt buy back in.

Absolutely why you need to wear one yourself - to protect yourself from everyone else.

I'm going for the doubled tea towel (97% effective). I can carry a couple with me and toss them in the wash when I get home, along with the plastic gloves. Personally feel you need to wear two layers of gloves as well - because that outer layer will no doubt come in contact with the virus, so when you get home, you take one layer off before touching keys, to the house, etc.

Two "people" working in concert so to speak can make this work....

As mentioned before, I've seen on several stocks that they are relatively easy to pump up, and drop quickly with a sizeable sale. £6k or so to bump down for £3 and buy back at lower price - it's one way of averaging down your exposure.

If they think they can capitalise on a CG loss though, I think the rules state you have to wait 30 days before the buy back, so you need to use CFD to ensure you don't loss out on the future share price.

The mechanisms underlying the disproportionate effect of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection on patients with cardiovascular comorbidities, however, remain incompletely understood. SARS-CoV-2 infects the host using the angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, which is expressed in several organs, including the lung, heart, kidney, and intestine.

Intriguingly, SARS-CoV-2 can directly infect engineered human blood vessel organoids in vitro.

I don't understand all the science to read this quickly, but it looks very interesting, but may be too techincal for some. Skip half way through to the DISCUSSION section which I found the most useful.

The study was done to aid vaccine development, and their headlines are:
• Epitope pools detect CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in 100% and 70% of convalescent COVID patients
• T cell responses are focused not only on spike but also on M, N, and other ORFs
• T cell reactivity to SARS-CoV-2 epitopes is also detected in non-exposed individuals

C7 - good to hear you sounding much happier! I think everyone could use someone to come in and do the cleaning - I'm still thinking about replacing flooring, so I'm holding off for a bit.

Level playing field - Your words were like a light bulb flipping on for me. I had assumed the big pharmas would probably prefer to control as much as possible, but had assumed that the science would win. I'm not sure how we can help on that front. As for "day trading" purposes, I can see that AIM share when they pump can go up quickly, but I'm not sure there is much of a market when larger holder go to sell - I've switched to oil shares for that, and I'm learning not to hang on to them once a decent profit sets. It's early days for me. Much as I would like to have more Scancell shares, for me it is more important to generate some tax free income to use up my allowances.

Molecular biologists from Germany confirmed that the novel coronavirus is capable of penetrating human heart cells and discovered that it can reproduce there, causing breaks in heartbeat rate, the researchers say in their study, published at the bioRxiv online library.

"SARS-CoV-2 can infect human cardiomyocytes in culture as well as in two different models of cardiac tissue," the researchers write. "Viral infection was associated with cytotoxic effects and inhibition of beating of cardiomyocytes in our in vitro cultures and cardiospheres suggesting a potential detrimental effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection on the human heart."

Both strains successfully infiltrated all three heart muscle cell cultures used in the experiment, causing their mass death and disruption.

Such experiments, the scientists say, indicate that the virus directly damages the heart tissue, which must be taken into account during both treatment of COVID-19 carriers and researching of long-term consequences of coronavirus spread among the population.

I agree with the sentiment. I think it's probably just not precise language. I read it quite late last night, but I think what they meant was that the viral load is now much less.

I have no idea whether this is true or not and I think there may need to be a proper experiment. I can see any number of variables interfering with the results.

Over 7 million people currently with heart and circulatory diseases according the BHF. The recommendation for people to lose a bit of weight and get fit was probably made with the intention to help strengthen the major organs.

Dawn here started around 2am or so - when I turned out the light I could still see the outline of the wee hills opposite. Yesterday it was 28C so I'm thankful today doesn't feel quite as hot.

For me, I've been reading up on the use of berries to counteract various cancers, so I think I may need some good recipes.

GlaxoSmithKline has said it will produce 1bn doses of a vaccine booster as it steps up its preparations for an eventual immunisation for coronavirus.

The London-listed pharmaceutical company, one of the world’s largest vaccine makers, said its adjuvant could make “a significant contribution against Covid-19”.

“As demonstrated in the last flu pandemic, GSK’s pandemic adjuvant can reduce the amount of vaccine protein required per dose, which allows more vaccine doses to be produced, contributing to protecting more people,” GSK said. “Additionally, an adjuvant can enhance the immune response and has been shown to create a stronger and longer-lasting immunity against infections.”

Adam Barker, an analyst at Shore Capital, said the development of an adjuvant would allow for a greater amount of the eventual vaccine to be “produced in a quicker time period”.
