Uni of Notts is a site for the Oxford vaccine clinical trial. I understand that they have revamped many processes to get this lead on competitors. Flaskdata (Israel) has developed ways to collect data points directly from participants to help ensure the right data is collected at the right time. This also helps with the collation and reporting of that data, and thus submissions to regulatory authorities.

I might have turned the tide downwards today by buying some. Just averaging down.

I'm going to wait until Q1 2021 to find out more about Scancell's trial before volunteering.

On Thursday 16 July, the House of Commons Science?and?Technology Committee?is holding its twelfth evidence session as part of its UK Science, Research and Technology Capability and Influence in Global Disease Outbreaks inquiry.

This is a wide-ranging session encompassing different aspects of science advice to Government, the latest developments in the scientific evidence on COVID-19 and the UK Government response to COVID-19.

I had a different understanding from the S& Committee (from recollection). Basically Oxford said their that some did not elicit the antibody response sufficiently to ensure immunity.

To me, that means ensuring there is a T-cell response is imperative. I fully appreciate that they want to show a victory and I believe the much made of revamping of clinical processes itself is a win for everyone even if the manufacturing facilities they have built produces the £1BN plus vaccines by another player.

This echoes what was said in the S&T Committee meeting. They also mentioned that their t-cell activation had yet to be proven effective, along with antibodies affecting only about 50%.

I think Scancell's vaccine would be highly prized as their page and official communications indicate that it would not only help with this covid virus, but also future ones. For me, this means that even if Scancell's is late to market, the efficacy for the elderly and immuno compromised will pay off.

This is partly why I'm astounded that share value has been pushed back down to under 6 - I've stopped fighting that though, I'm just trying to make some money so I can invest more.

This is not what they said at the S&T committee meeting. My vague recollection is that the t-cell response was being pursued because the antibody response was not sufficient.

I got the impression that they had not cracked the T-Cell response.

In other news (and posted here several days ago), I saw that Uni of Notts is one of the Oxford vaccine trial centres. Scancell's partners will gain valuable insights into the progress of that trial which will pay huge dividends when their own Covid19 vaccine is ready for human trials in Q1 2021.

Hey BS, I think there has been a lot of scrutiny of the Oxford vaccine work. However at last week's S&T committee meeting, someone said that if the vaccine proved ineffective, then the manufacturing facilities would be turned over to the production of other vaccines.

I think it was Bailey that said the full business case of what I believe was a portfolio of vaccines is before The Government - it is certainly a space to watch if the intent is that the UK becomes a global vaccine research and production centre.

Seriously, I posted one post and now I can't access that board. I gave up trying to access it some months ago. Check the stats if you doubt my words. It was a genuine enquiry. From your use of "Fud" my expectation is that the other board is expecting a huge price rise - which is even more intriguing.

FYI: This board was the first share board I joined. I've had a look a few other share discussions and made the occasional comment on less than 5 other shares as best I can recall.

Thanks for this. I've been getting my son to buy what he can into his own ISA and just forget about it. He's had some of his own ideas too which have been interesting. I'm mindful that I can gift £3k/year to invest and wait for the long term.

I have invested in EIS shares in the past (including Scancell), however, the problem is that though they are free of inheritance tax if they are not listed on an exchange, there is no ready market for selling.

Bear in mind that Uni of Notts has issued a £10m Emergency Appeal which I assume includes the vaccine, though their COVID19 research is broader. I have been unable to find out how much they have raised thus far.
