Amanda Solloway Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) responded:
The Government is taking a portfolio-based approach that monitors the landscape of coronavirus vaccine development, both here in the UK and internationally. Our approach is to develop vaccine candidates across the main potential technologies, including adenoviral vaccines, mRNA and nucleic acid vaccines, adjuvanted protein vaccines and other approaches, including whole inactivated viral vaccines. We cannot comment on negotiations with industry at present because of commercial confidentiality, but will be announcing developments in due course.

I think you need to check the rules. You can't put more than £20k into an isa in any one year, BUT you can buy the shares and holding them in your trading account from what I have researched.

I have a similar issue and I've been running numbers to determine whether to sell other ISA holdings to pay for the ISA allotment. (first world problems to be sure)

Fair point. What I should have said is that some rags are saying to divest of LLOY for other shares on an almost weekly basis.

As said, if I had a spare £1m, I'd be putting a chunk of it into Lloyds.

Don't want to jinx it, but there appears to be plenty of demand for shares today compared to the RNS where Diggle's sell sent the share price down into the doldrums.

I think you are closer to my view, but I know a few of the popular share rags keep saying other shares provide more opportunity.

My view is that the QTR dividends will be paying about 1p or so. At this price, cost of purchase is paid back in 10 years. I'm stuffing them into my ISA, but at present, that income will taxed at 7% up to £50k. Just wish I had £1m to buy more now.

I also hope that the cash raised will enable Scancell to attract other grants, including matched funding from the Government and the Lottery - let's leave no stone unturned approach.

What I said was the the double £8451 buys looked to me like trying to get a USA purchase under their $10k limit for reporting transfers (at the then £ / $ price plus commissions).

Over last weekend I was in touch with someone in an unknown medical profession about writing a Covid19 theme poem as I did for WWII several years ago and published. I'm also in a few groups, including one which is interested in changing how research gets funded - like Scancell, many struggle to find the funding they need to solve vital issues. I have mentioned Scancell's situation more than once on Twitter / Facebook / LI / Instagram.....

I was thinking of doing the same, but I think today may be the qualifying date.

Someone picked up an addition 675k shares - good do see the market can bear that without sinking the price altogether.

The Government can keep printing money to award to those they deem worthy. Having shafted China and the EU, perhaps we need to learn to speak Russian like Johnson.

Tale your point - but it is only a loss now if you cash out. FYI I bought into Scancell during their 2016 EIS raise which was at 18p I think.

I'll take my portion of the shares at 5.5p now if I have accumulated enough to qualify. I've been averaging down the break even on my holding.
