Private company Gilgamesh Pharmaceuticals is reported to be in talks to be acquired by Abbvie, an event not totally unsurprising as Abbie signed an option agreement in 2024.

Gilgamesh focuses on developing treatments for depression, anxiety, drug addiction and other mental illnesses. What did capture our attention were the potential acquisition terms which are thought be circa $1bn. The option agreement provided a not insignificant $65m upfront and up to $1.95bn in milestones. An announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
