From Advfn: DEMG's Doppler technology24 Mar 2020 19:00
Will have a go: it all gets very techy quite quickly, but, basically, you do want a ventilator if in crisis with CoVid and, when on a ventilator, you really want to be on a cardiac output monitor
CoVid 19 causes inflammatory responses which can trigger many different further problems. Part of the management of inflammation is to use fluids to optimise oxygen delivery around the body at times of crisis: effectively trying to minimise the internal swelling
DEMG's Doppler technology is the best available to do this because it actually measures in real time the blood being pumped by the heart (see graphic on their homepage) and has very few confounders
LID have also had a good bump in SP this week. Their tech is also useful even if derived from peripheral blood pressures. Its strength comes from measuring pulse pressure variation which is well validated in ventilated patients so long as certain settings are at certain levels and the patient is 100% mechanically ventilated (i.e. no spontaneous breathing)
DEMG's monitors allow the same as LID's as well as Doppler so are perfect for both the sickest and the recovering patients. Some DEMG boxes also have the bio-impedance technology
So, with all the noise around urgent NHS need for ventilators, it looks like the market is working out that, once ventilated, the patients also need high end cardiac output monitoring and DEMG has the highest end 'flow' offer as well as the more standard 'pressure' one
