Seeingyou - there are competitors in all business - I'm sure you know who SEE's competitors are in all their verticals. If you think they are better than SEE (proven tech etc) invest in them if not then stick with SEE and their 240 clients worldwide etc etc.

I did some research into the Apple face recogition that someone said uses fotonation tech and we should all look at. Apparently it works "most of the time" and when it doesn't you have to hold it 10-20cms from your face. If that doesn't work Apple recommend just using your passcode.

Possibly be able to recognise both your faces and adjust your environment depending which one you are showing ? Apologies A8 you did set that up. LOL

30th April....what a differene a month makes ... "I've been following Fotonation and I don't think it's them in the Subaru, this information is incorrect. For starters they only announced they were entering into the DMS market in May 2015 and announced a tie up to develop the cameras with Kyocera in May 2016. There is not enough time to get a vehicle to market in 2017, it's just not possible! Also they announced a collaboration with Denso to improve Denso's Driver Status Monitor only in October 2017. We know Subaru are now using Autoliv. Fotonation just don't have the time to get a product to market. I am 99.9% sure Subaru is Seeing Machines with Autoliv." But A8 according to you none of this tech will be required anyway as we are all going to Level 4/5 soon?

A8 - seriously? Do some basic research on face recognition on phones please. You're equating facial recongition on phones to in cab/auto real life work ? If you own one try wearing a hat, sunglasses or whatever and try your phone out and see if you can get in. That's pathetic trying to equate the technology of phone facial recognition to the variables in a car/truck. Really?

Gone from NCAP to attacking SEE now. Think everyone knows you well now. Hey Denso could buy SEE algorithms for a couple of billion then they would have an edge. Foto will probably replace SEYE as the second string. Not sure any facial recognition software would recognise you as you change to the other one every few months. A8 ah so now you are saying that some OEMs are actually moving to eye tracking tech whereas you were suggesting coffee cups would do until level 4 or 5 arrive. How could they all get it so wrong??

Merc have a coffee cup perhaps they'll keep it and not move with the times.LOL. Lets see how many OEMs sign up this year and early next. Doesn't look like BMW, Merc, JLR, Audi, Subaru GM agree with you about the future and what they want to do. Perhaps they are all wrong and you are right.? They are actively embracing the technology and are planning to implement it whereas you are stuck outside trying to get back in. LOL

WHL - yes it doesn't appear that Eye Tracking camera will be mandated for 2021. It does however state that the 5 star rating starts in 2020 for these system (coffee cup). Clearly if an OEM has a better system in place it'll get the best rating (assuming it meets all the other criteria). So from 2022 an OEM better have a better system in place rather than the basic coffee cup style. An important point to note is that a car planning cycle is usually 3 -4 years so OEM's really should be planning this and signing contracts by end this year early next I would expect. We know pretty much that ALL OEM's are looking at SEE's (and others no doubt) systems - hightlighted by the fact that SEE have signed up with GM, Merc, BMW and SEYE have JLR+ and Fotonation look like they have Subaru (possibly). I guess that if an OEM produces a new car in 2020 it will have to change the production of the very same car 2 years later to comply with the star system regulations - bit expensive to do early cycle assuming a car life span of a model is 6+ years. OEM's know it's coming so I expect more auto contracts to be sorted out this year. And of course rail / more fleet / aero (at least for SEE).

Agree Glandore - Again too much focus on EU legislation and not enough on the Euro Ncap. EU legislation is the start - OEM's are very aware of the publics requirement for safety and it does remain to be seen if Euro Ncap will give a car a 5 star safety rating if it uses the coffee cup light etc..
