Exec summary of the transcript- FOMC Minutes from October 31-November 1, 2017 meeting: many policy makers saw near term rate hike as warranted, a few opposed a near-term hike on weak inflation. Next meeting (and hence chance for rare change) is Dec 12/13 (why they're aren't specific I'm not sure)

11.30am last Friday we had had a meterioc rise from 221p 8.30am to 234p at 11.30am so I was on tenterhooks thinking it amounted to a blip (I know this is volatile but doesn't usually rise THAT fast). Then it dipped to 232p with a wekening dollar and a brief small dip in PM's. I bottled it and sold. TBH I'm guilty of micromanaging and analysing too much. Still I made SOME cash and it's lesson learned. When you come from the North you're not brought up to back your own thoughts "JUst shovel that bloody coal" ;-) Anyway, onwards and upwards. I wished my insight was matched by my nerve. Sold at 232 when the price dropped from the 234. Still....as long as someone is making money! We need strong dollar overnight. GLA

Not making money is nearly as bad as losing money. PMs tank. HOC stays unmoved. PMs recover slightly HOC shoots up 2%. All theories welcome.

Right now GOLD is where it was at 3.30ish Friday. It then went through the roof wheras gold went up couple of percent. Hence this is just evening up again. I could be wrong

Noggers, I've come round to this way of thinking. I try to track the $ as I believe that loosely influences PM's but every so often the arse just drops out of pms from nowhere.

Question for you lads who've been following gold for longer than me. In terms of the effect on gold do you think the Korea "Crisis" is now defunct? By that I don't mean it's settled in the real world, but does the fact there's been no escalation for I think a month mean that the price we're seeing does not account for imminent Armageddon? Theres no exact answers I know, but I'd appreciate observations. Cheers.

Morning all Agree with that. Euro slipping steadily albeit at time of writing no impact on gold. I think if this was any country other than Germany we'd be seeing a bit more action, but they're very responsible aren't they? If Merkel announces she's going it'll be a quick jump I suspect. GLA

Ditto. If you want to have it just there then yes you'll long term make money. I enjoy arsing about and the volitivity of this share makes it great for trading.

Yeah mate, I just looked at a few graphs and decided the momentum wasn't there to sustain this. (Always take my comments as My feeling is it'll open lower Monday. You're right on CLLN but its too much of a basket case for me!

I'm holding for the mo. I think this rise is all on gold and I think rise in gold is due to $ being down against EUR and Yen. I don't need this decision making with a grade "B" hangover. Lend me a tenner noggers

Crikey. Tempting to sell as this has to drop again surely before the 240's. That said I'm holding. I can't see it back to sub 225 (sorry for cursing it)
