ragnar, not too sure the 250k blocks have all been sells. At the time of trade they were closer to the Ask than Bid. However, as you point out the demand is there. Expecting the quarterly results this week which should firm up the fundamentals.

Wuffle my post was a bit 'rampy' . At the time of posting the sp was peaking before falling back. I need to curb my enthusiasm a little. I was invested here when PoP was there was almost a parity with the PoG and trading around $1900. Of course the price is good for earnings but the risk then is the market becoming over saturated with Pt and the price falling back. SLP then getting caught in a 'bear run' and the wider market ignoring that SLP are a low cost producer. imo that is one of the reasons why SLP is trading so low, market sentiment towards PGM producers. The earnings get overlooked. (for now)

Not sure if the weaker dollar is driving up PGM prices or just coincidence. Hedge fund managers are bullish, certainly would be if a producer was issuing a dividend. Although the Rand is strong both Pt and Pd are up over $100 since mid Dec. Those Q4 updates will be interesting with the picture improving all the time.

I have the luxury of time since I retired. I think it was Visitor that mentioned the number of shares held by the BoD. and it being in their interest as much as ours to pay a dividend. A dividend is the cherry on the cake but the MC nudging up is reward enough.

I have a very good average here, share the frustration but will top up if it drops 5% below it. Happy to let it play out and trying to ignore the daily sp movement and constant ATs

On the 1st November the company announced that the Share Buy Back Scheme has been extended by 2 months. Well we are now into the 3rd month......self funding company with spare cash.

ragnar, I would have thought the sp buyback scheme cancelled it. However the dividend policy you posted is obviously the view of the CEO when metal prices were higher. I think a clear strategy would have to be announced in the interims as revenue rises. Won't be too long before the money in the bank exceeds our current MC. I would settle for a couple of platinum bars for starters :)

shareminator, I think your right. May also cool down the unions. It's ok making demands when the PoP is strong but I now I guess they realise that they have to pick their day. The mining industry should be expanding in S.A. but in some sectors it is consolidating. SLP seem to have been caught up in the last few tears in the general market conditions and the low cost producer being overlooked.

ragnar, all I can find in past presentations that their customers are listed as 'smelters'. Lonmin have obviously been structured and geared up for historical high Pt prices. Visitor, I think that they expect the deal to be approved with Sibanye in the next 2 months so they should still have cash available. You never know the rising sp may be in anticipation of this rather than the interims.

ragnar, maybe Sibayne is looking at building up a big enough stake in Pt to have a degree of control over supply. You would think that they would have had a strategy of snapping up low cost producers. Lonmin have had historical high production costs. I think the deal is yet to get approval but it will be interesting to see their next move. As I see it if the PoP falls, SLP continue to make a profit and supply gets choked as others fall by the wayside. If the price rises then every producer wins.
