Look, the CABs 14 year assertion is just noise. The government could and should have granted the permit long ago. There is no requirement to prove up the entirety of an ore deposit in order to secure a license.
The government, being unwilling to make a decision, love all this to-ing and fro-ing. It suits their agenda perfectly.
Several other mining permits have been granted over the years in Sweden without the need to prove up an ore body to such a degree, some of which are closer to Laponia, I might add.
Sure, if the scoping study results look encouraging, chuck them in for comments from all and sundry. That, too suits the government, but it wont make them make a decision.
As an aside, everyone is already talking about the next deadline in March.
A deadline is a date, by which some clear action or decision should happen. So, its not a deadline, is it?
The government have never said ok, answer these few questions and well make a decision. They have kicked the can down the street so often, I actually feel sorry for the can.
