Of course the spending plans were outlined.
But, and here is my point, the clear inference from Budge was that the Kallak decision was imminent, on which everything hinges, including the success of the placing.
My assertion is that, had Budge been clear that the decision on Kallak was not imminent, or timetabled, or has ever been on Baylan’s to do list during his tenure, the placing would probably fall well short of expectation.
In my view, Budge has colluded in the long running theme of false hope in order to secure the funding.
If you don’t like the word “con” choose any word you like, but transparency has been absent throughout the past 8 years.

The irony is, just a few weeks ago, EU leaders were bleating about the AZ vaccine being in short supply, with the clear insinuation that this country was purposefull holding back supplies.
Utterly without scruples or shame.
My 92 year old mother has said that from a very young age I was able to suss people with clinical precision on one meeting. It is a skill which can be a curse, but did afford me a very fine choice of wife!
After viewing Baylan for just a few minutes last year being questioned in parliament, it was as clear as day that he was a completely unprincipled weasel.

Politics has scuppered the application to mine at Kallak, despite the passing of 8 years and countless lies and false promises.
If you need any more proof of how self serving, ruinous and life threatening politics is right now, you need look no further than our former EU partners.
Wholesale rejection of the British Astra Zeneca vaccine, despite wholehearted endorsement of same by WHO and the EU’s own regulatory body, the EMA.
Even Italy have shelved the AZ vaccine, despite being in the grip of their third wave.
Politicians are mean spirited, vacuous b*stards with no vision beyond their own miserable careers.
RIP all those who die of COVID across Europe due to vile politicians and their preening and corrupt misuse of power.

The facts are that people have stumped up £6m because they bought shares in Kallak.
Without Kallak the placing could not have happened.
Now all Budge's brave talk about the Kallak decisiin has evaporated. He's spending nothing there. He hasn't even reorganised the postponed drilling.

My banal analogy was simply a device to continue Hastyretreat’s line of thinking ha ha.
I don’t think “conning” is an inappropriate term.
At the time of the placing, when Budge had his hand out, he said in an RNS that the UNESCO issue was sorted - with the UNESCO question out of the way, I believe were his words.
So, any expenditure now on Kosovo and Finland, he was inferring , would be after the granting of the Kallak license.
As we now know, Kallak has gone backwards in terms of a decision. So, money was raised on false hope of a Kallak decision, simply to fund other projects.
A con, in other words.
Just my opinion, of course.

A more fitting analogy would be Budge conning people to lend him the money to buy a lottery ticket, which he promptly spends on a bag of chips.

Statements of intent are all well and good, but we don't even know when the company plans to apply for an exploitation license in Finland.
Even viewing this optimistically, a graphite mine in Finland is 4 or 5 fund raises away, and by then there will be many well established graphite mines supplying the battery manufacturers. Always behind the curve.

Baylan is a total fraud. He makes all sorts of nonsensical pronouncements which bear no relation to his behaviours.
It’s either a chronic personality disorder, or his brassneck quotient is off the scale. You choose.
Either way, it is exclusively BS which comes out of his mouth.

That’s Baylan secured a smooth path through to the next election without a second thought for Kallak, exactly as I predicted.
If you are an investor, you had better hope for some very swift and significant progress with Vardar and Finland. Kallak was a good idea, but will never mine while a fragmented political system chooses to avoid governing according to the law.

The other concern I have over the spurious referral to UNESCO, the Kallak location was given ANI status for mineral mining in 2013 by the Swedish government!!
So, effectively they are, by default, asking UNESCO if such a status is acceptable?
If, as they should, UNESCO say nowt to do with us, then the mining ANI status is ratified.
Budge needs to be all over this. Why do I have a nagging fear that he is not?

The decision to stop drilling last year was not political, it was Budge being a wuss.
There would have been significant numbers of Sami herdsmen all over that area during the proposed drill period.

A new policy?

Littorin has done nowt since his arrival. His network should be getting this over the line for the company. Otherwise why appoint a former swedish minister? Expensive luxury, in my view.

Baylan is only good at one thing. Treading water until the next election.
It will be mont(s before UNESCO cough up any sort of response. Baylan will eventually admit the reply has arrived and then say their response will need careful consideration blah blah blah.
This is more predictable than a soap opera.

I do comment in order to make some of these LTHs wake up. The quality and size of the ore body at Kallak is both a source of hope and the company’s Achilles heel. Sadly some LTHs only see the former.

Maybe Littorin is no more than a Trojan horse.
My cynicism / realism allows me these musings.

BEM is swimming in waters where it is chronically out of it’s depth. Added to which the waters are infested with sharks of the political variety.
The sheer magnitude of the investment by LKAB / the state should demonstrate that BEM is a minor irritation and no more. One which Damberg, Baylan and his successors, if BEM stay in business will ignore with absolute impunity.
