lets try again
Justice for Maslovsky, [17/06/2022 17:20]
Today, after an almost two-month break, the court resumed the consideration of the case of Pavel Maslovsky.
As we said earlier, in connection with the change of the presiding judge, the criminal process actually begins from the very beginning. We will again have to hear voluminous volumes of written evidence and various financial documents before we move on to the examination of witnesses and the debate of the parties.
At today's meeting, the new judge and all participants in the process again heard the indictment and the position of the defense, which petitioned for a change in the preventive measure for Maslovsky to house arrest. No surprises - the position of the prosecution remained unchanged, the defense motion was rejected.
Pavel Maslovsky is still in jail. For almost 1.5 years in prison without proven guilt under a non-violent article.
And in this regard, I would like to make one small digression. We don’t know if today’s speech by Vladimir Putin at SPIEF was shown in the pre-trial detention center, so Maslovsky himself will get acquainted with it later, but we really hope that the new judge will definitely look at it and pay attention to the fact that the president:
??Called the Cabinet of Ministers and the Supreme Court to prepare amendments to the legislative norms excluding the detention of entrepreneurs under economic articles
??And also instructed the Security Council to deal with cases when criminal cases are initiated without sufficient grounds and are used to put pressure on businesses and citizens
We do not know for certain what such a persistent message from our supreme power is connected with - with the accumulated irritation from the wave of "strange" cases of persecution of entrepreneurs, similar to the "case" of Maslovsky; or with a radically complicated situation in the economy. But, one thing can definitely be said - in the current situation, Russia needs talented businessmen, and it needs them in freedom.
We hope that the judicial and law enforcement agencies will finally heed these unambiguous signals and justice will prevail.
In the meantime, we can only report that the next hearing in the Maslovsky case has been scheduled for June 21. We'll keep you posted.
