One previous crap CEO ruined a potentially good business. I didn't have faith in his ability got out and saved myself a large financial loss.

But there is just the 2019-2020 regulation changes including VAT already in place, then the current ongoing restructuring for a democracy, started in 2020 I think. They are always tweaking the regs, so a change here or there would be normal.
Mali is one of the biggest gold producers in the world, so they won't upset the mining applecart too much.

I think Morning Star has joined a few of the wrong dots in that article.
All the others simply say that the office is closed as they update procedures, I have looked through all the quality sources.
The whole government offices are being restructured as we know it has been going on ages and senior people have cracked under the pressure, gone on the sick been replaced etc. Now it appears to be the mining office.
The spin the government is putting on it is it will be faster processing. I bet. Their stakeholders as they call them.

South Africa with crime, Mexico with government intervention are the problem areas amongst others. Mali so far apart from tightening everything up increasing VAT on mining etc has been ok.
Wider World events remain in my view our greatest danger. Above normal junior miner AIM risks. Once we get this flaming sign off.

Lithium is not like oil, there is a short sweet spot then it will be normal margin mining, after that new technology is likely to make it redundant, except for previous use, phone batteries etc.

I provided the original link to the government's new mining company and read everything around it, I couldn't see anything to be concerned about.
All countries with oil and mining make these statements, tighten up rules etc, the problem is that exploration is where millions are lost or made and nobody can change that, that is why the major oil and mining companies do not simply buy a controlling interest in the likes of us. That would kill exploration. The likes of Bernie and Steve would stay in their cushy jobs with all the perks and pension and not go into dangerous regions risking snake bites etc without the possibility of being rich.

Ivenoidea, unless the government mining company buy in on a JV they need to stay out of lithium, it relies on a three contract chain (minimum) and nobody in that chain would want a weak link as they are all making commitments to other parties.
The current high value is fine if all parties are highly experienced. Steve and Bernie are top guns, the offtake partner will have a contract before they sign too, there is no room for the inexperienced to push in.
I would think that gold would be no issue, they were born into it.
I would think this is a dramatic headline on the back of the government's mining company only.

The government would be really stupid to chase lithium as it only has a short sweet spot of a decade max.
Gold is better to be involved in as the finance and outlets are easier.
But they must buy in and do everything above board, otherwise they will be out in the cold.
Kodal should sell them their Mali Goldfields and focus on the lithium in Mali only. Show good faith and reduce exposure.
Lithium relies on a chain of contracts.

The drop will just be the Mali Prime minister returning from illness - fatigue, they are dropping like flies trying to get that restructuring done.
It seems like every time there is a news story it drops then recovers.

Hope - it will have to be delivered in an RNS as we need to be notified.
Remember there is no issue with this, there should be no reason that it should be refused, it is a relatively small change.
If hypothetically it was refused they simply revert to the original plan, the mine still happens.

Ricky- which means if Suay Chin cannot meet one of the principles which form part of the offtake agreement one of the major miners has the opportunity to 'steal' the offtake off them.
Penalties on the offtake partners side based on 680 dollars per tonne were not of great concern to those already operating in the mining space, now at current prices, many companies would not have the financial clout to underwrite those contracts.
A lot of companies would like that offtake. We will see if Suay Chin manage to get it.

Oneandonly, we cannot discount anything at the moment, either already on the table or a late offer, but Bernie let slip about using revenue after the finance is repaid to get another plant running on one of the other plots.
So, based on that comment a JV is more likely.
A JV would be good, even a 20% JV would be more cash in the bank than our current market cap and we still own the remaining percentage producing revenue and everything else.
If the government would get a wriggle on we may have two full production plants running in the peak shortfall of lithium supply and therefore the highest prices before the price stabilises as it approaches 2030.
These are 100-130,000 tonne per year plants once up and running.

Naylor it would be nice, but governments do not rush.
Bernie is planning the second plot of ground and wash plant from the revenue off this one, so it would be good to move onto finance and potential JVs after this RNS is history.
Bernie is planning 2024 and 2025.

I see solgold has just received Royalty Financing of 50m for 0.6% of the Royalties, another angle on finance arrangements.

Dusty70, hearing nothing in this case is good, last time we heard something it involved a tweak for the mining department. We are likely to have heard something if there was anything wrong.
Unfortunately I never went round any wash plants when on site, wish I had now. This is just an educated guess but the time will probably be on any potential spill, the water capacity will be different and because an additive is used, which I seem to remember is inert, but the dirty water considered waste, the catchment area is probably redesigned. Normally it is over 110% of the liquid capacity, so there is no leakage into streams etc. There will also be other safety features I am unaware of which would need altering in the plans too. The mining dept will be checking all of these before release.
Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
I have been reading about JVs recently put in place around the World for other materials, there are many variances and some interesting ones.
It will be interesting to see which way we go with the following stage, once we move off this one. 2pm RNS?
