Like so many aspects of our 21st century life this chat room has become increasingly polarized. Pdub makes a good point on 09:34 in that a contrary view is important for the balance of argument, as long as it is backed up by logic/numbers/facts, thereby setting the conditions for an informed debate. The debate is played out on the court. But the repetitive diatribe on SP performance, CEO’s salary and competence, retrospective ‘coulda shoulda woulda’ stuff, well that just is just chanting from the stands.
On these chat rooms nobody has to state their credentials. And let’s be frank, the ‘opinion’ option on lse.co.uk is passe. So it comes back to a fundamental point: if you (and you know who you are) are continually attacking the CEO and the board, and thereby discouraging casual visitors, what is your agenda? If you are an investor it seems nonsensical to undermine your own investment. If you have sold out in outraged disgust, go away and don’t waste your time and energy. In short, what are you trying to do here? Let off steam, win an argument, or start a revolution?
My credentials: invested substantially over three years (probably more than is financially prudent); significantly underwater despite averaging down over the past year; still have faith in the board and company strategy; still have conviction that vanadium is essential to the future of our civilisation; and, finally, still have conviction that this company is going places. Maybe not next week, but have patience.
