Nearly a week later (give or take Bank Holidays) and still no sign of my allocation on HL. Anyone else received their new shares yet?

Me too!! 6 months from accepting the offer but I guess it's been worth the wait. Delisting soon so this page won't be around for much longer. Reinvested in GGP @ 10.62 so tempted to take a quick profit there but I'm not actually a trader so it'll probably sit tight until it shows a loss...

News due in the morning, sp dropped dangerously close to the placing price but hopefully this will still get away. I'll take a few more at this price anyway.

Yes I see that now richred, apologies. They do, however, also say the following: "Dividends are paid quarterly. Investors should note that the payment of dividends is at the discretion of the Board and the Directors may resolve to pay dividends otherwise than in accordance with the targets noted above in order to reflect the Company's expected returns and future plans for the growth of the Company." which leaves the door open to the extra 0.5p. I know it doesn't sound much but I think it's significant, let's see how it pans out.

The only thing I will say is that since I diversified into BDEV and PSN it's usually TW. that comes out on top daily. I guess it's a low-risk strategy in an era of stagflation, conflict, political cluelessness etc. etc. Clutching at straws really, no fan of buybacks.

More good news from GSF this morning with new assets coming onstream and performance ahead of forecast across all energised resources. SP once again flirting with record high (121). I'm getting to the point where I'm expecting a 1.5p final dividend now, should find out end of June/early July.

I've got considerable investments in wind power, solar, battery storage etc. etc. so the uncertainty created by the gov't is unsettling to say the least. I agree with Monkshood, hopefully the saving grace here will be the amount invested by these companies (and by us as shareholders through regular placings) and, just as importantly, the amount that still needs to be invested if energy security is to be achieved. However, I also believe the link between the price per therm for gas generation will be broken for alternative energy suppliers, and eventually UKW and the others will receive less for their power. I don't think that would be helpful, but perhaps more palatable than an unwanted tax restricting future investment?

Yes I'm hoping so too eccles, or a nice special dividend. BDEV has committed to reduce dividend cover from 2.5 to 2.25 this f.y. (so still at a very safe level) which should help deliver a very attractive year-end payment.

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, WOW! "...five vessels in its fleet have been fixed on time charters for an average of 11 - 13 months, with an average annualized unlevered gross cash yield in excess of 30%.". Sounds like next year's special dividend should be safe then. Obviously a global downturn can't be good for the shipping industry but the worldwide shortage of vessels isn't going to be reversed any time soon. Enjoy the ride, for now at least!

Well you'd hope so wouldn't you Richie? But the buyback started on 4th March when the SP was 133 & today it's c. 131. So I'm not feeling the love I'm afraid. Give me a special divi any day - please!

You can't understand the confusion Thronegames but unfortunately you've added to it.
From Investopedia: "The ex-date is usually one business day before the record date. Investors who purchase shares any day before the ex-dividend date will be documented as owners of shares on the record date. That means they'll be entitled to receive the dividend payment. Investors who purchase shares on or after the ex-dividend date won't be recognized as shareowners on the record date. Instead, the seller will still be the owner of the record and will receive the dividend payment."
Check a few different company RNS's, you'll find this is correct.

Nothing particularly eye-catching in the new CEO's first outing, she may as well have just said "build back better". No change to the dividend policy so I suspect we've seen the last of special dividends for the foreseeable future, sadly. Given the fall in the SP since the share buyback began, does anyone still think it's a good idea going forward?

I guess the short position has worked out well so far, perhaps they're looking to double down? In my view any short positions will begin to look exposed once the Covid situation in China improves. Significant potential for growth here & at this level also paying a decent dividend for a growth company. I'm down currently but holding for now.

Another exciting-looking deal engineered by Belvoir, adding more mortgage advisers and a profitable business. They'll have to go some to maintain their record of increasing profits year-on-year after last year's impressive performance but this looks to be just the right type of acquisition to give them a chance. No raise needed either which is always a bonus for holders.

btw thanks to Monkshood for the original post, I hadn't picked up on this story & was wondering why all my green energy shares were down this morning.

Only in this country could we risk killing off the fledgling renewables industries by threatening a windfall tax to choke new investment. FWIW I can't see it happening but there will be a price to pay somewhere along the line for sure.
