With HL you can only claim back overseas taxes paid in the USA or Canada:

"Where possible we will claim reduced withholding tax payments on US and Canadian stocks for investors who have provided us with a valid W-8BEN form. However, we will not reclaim tax credits on dividends or income from any other foreign countries."

This may be different with other brokers.

I've just voted against the proposals. In HL, go to My accounts & dealing, then click Shareholder meetings to see the list of companies where you are entitled to vote.

And whilst I'm having a moan, here's what the Chairman said in the Final Results on 26th April: "The current range that the Investment Manager is indicating to the Board is that there will be sufficient income to pay a dividend of at least 7 pence per Ordinary Share which will equate to a current yield of 8.24% versus the year end share price."

But the dividend for the first quarter is 1.625p, equivalent to 6.5p for the year, unchanged from last year. Is it just me, or are they making it up as they go along?

Another one bites the dust! How many more decent income-paying companies are we going to lose? Surely they just need to ride out the current high inflation / high interest period and wait for things to settle down later this year? In the mean time, someone is trying to take us out on the cheap (surprise, surprise) but the only solution seems to be to pack up & go home. Perhaps they'll combine with VSL where the same thing is happening already. So frustrating!

TheBoy828, I think you're getting a bit confused. Your KMR dividend will appear in your Income tab on HL as soon as they've completed the conversion from $ to £ hopefully in the next couple of days. The "roll over" you refer to is when HL sweep money from your Income account into your Capital account, which happens automatically on 10th of each month (if you have elected to hold cash in your Capital a/c rather than have it reinvested). Hope that makes sense. K

I was wiped out here a long time ago Charlie, just keep an eye on it to see what's happening. Sad to say it's exactly the same as was happening 10 years ago, and even more investors are losing their hard-earned. There's just a horrible, nagging feeling in the back of my mind though that one day this will turn up trumps. It's just the constant dilution, dilution, consolidation, dilution etc. etc. and no real idea if/when there will be a JV, how the rig will be funded and so it goes on. My days of risk-taking with stocks are over now, fortunately a couple of my gambles came off & I've moved into boring dividend payers to supplement my pension.

Yes I remember that Charlie, from memory the share price came out at about 16p at the time but of course that didn't last long. On the assumption they'll have to do the same again, that'll equate to about 12.5p / share this time around. Amazing to think, they gave shareholders one share for every 250, now they'll have to give one for every 250 again! I'm not sure I can work that out as a fraction but it's pretty tiny. Anyway, fun reading the posts whilst waiting for the inevitable...

Good news? The next time TRP reports good news will be the first time. Bad news is their speciality and has cost investors £millions over the past decade+

Thanks all, some insightful & thought-provoking posts. I recently sold some long-held BP shares to buy more here, and in theory I'm over-exposed within my own rules. However, I feel confident in the management, and the yield together with potential capital gain is compelling. As always for me, this is a long-term investment so here's hoping it continues to deliver.

It's clear from the last two RNS's that the Board is becoming increasingly frustrated at the poor performance of the SP. It will be particularly annoying given the recent discounted placing and subsequent trading well below the placing price. You have to feel for them, they've done pretty much everything they could to convince people that DEC is a solid, well-run company paying an exceptional dividend and likely to remain so for the foreseeable future.

What else can they do? More director buys perhaps, or more share buybacks? Difficult times, hope Rusty & co are able to negotiate the company through them.

The assumption seems to be that a wind-down is inevitable, and I agree it does now look extremely likely.

However, I will be voting against, and I encourage other shareholders enjoying the current 10%+ dividend payout to do likewise. Remember, you have to actively vote against the Board's proposal, otherwise it is assumed you are in favour, so you need to inform your broker, online or otherwise, of your intentions if you wish to vote against.

Hmm, not sure I want to be playing today's game. In this company, in particular, any SP growth pattern normally involves a well-orchestrated ramping programme followed by the inevitable cash-call and resulting crash down to earth. Still, each to their own & good luck to you and any other more modern investors.

FYI there have been 10 placings since 2019 - 4 years, 10 requests for shareholder's cash. The sp was 0.7 before the first call, so investors have lost over 90% of their money since then.

Unlike you, I see plenty of downsides here. And the next one won't be far away.

I'm assuming that's a joke. If not, would you care to count up the number of discounted placings on here in the last 10 years and tell us how many there have been? It'll take you a while. Hint: it's in double figures. Why would you think this is the last?

Please be aware EarlofAim is the most notorious ramper on these boards. Yesterday his much-promoted TRP lost 50% of it's value following a placing, at which point the spineless creature deleted all his Twitter ramps for the company. No doubt he would have done the same on here if able, but of course his posts are there for all to see.
