TheTrotsky, this morning's excellent 4th qtr update addresses some of those issues. Basically, rental cover is increasing and therefore CRT believes the operators have headroom to cope with additional NI costs. Meantime, they've announced a 3.6% increase in the dividend forecast, which is very welcome. Hard to understand why the SP is languishing so far below the NAV when the Trust is performing so well?

Sorry to say it looks pretty grim to me Sam. It's becoming apparent that the nailed-on 2c per quarter, and now the special dividend, is in effect the company realising assets and returning funds to shareholders, therefore reducing the size of the company. Vessel sales aren't having the expected impact on the LTV rate because the valuation of vessels continues to reduce and therefore so does the NAV. A NAV reduction from $1.48 to $1.28 in 3 months is the result. Whilst it's great to bank the dividends, and I've had nearly 1/3 of my original investment back as a result, I'm not convinced the company can afford them in the current climate.

Apologies if this all sounds rather negative but for me there's very little positive news (aside from the obvious dividend declaration) to cling on to. K

My average is just over 86p so I'm also down still but, like yourself, not concerned at this stage. Would expect to see the sp rally once the special dividend is formally declared.

Hoping they'll declare the special dividend at the same time as the Q3 dividend declaration on Friday for payment end of February. Would make a nice pay-day for you Sam!

Shares Magazine still positive on MEGP (today's magazine):

"The business continues its growth momentum which we believe is not reflected in the low-teens PE (price to earnings) ratio of the shares, providing scope for a rerating. The shares have dropped back by around 16% since November 2024, giving investors another bite at the cherry."

Flagging up build cost inflation, the market doesn't like that. Pretty solid otherwise though.

Don't we all broomtree, don't we all. I suspect with this late-year loading of the dividend there'll be a surge ahead of the final XD date, assuming they come up with the goods that is. Then a big sell-off ahead of 3 more mini-divi's. But then, what do I know? I've lowered my average but only by going very heavy in here, thoughts being if it does recover I'll sell some into the rise. If not, I'll sit tight & collect the dividends.

In today's edition, SMIF highlighted as one of their "Six of the Best Funds for 2025" lead feature:

"The managers invest in a diversified portfolio of fixed income credit securities which are less liquid and therefore offer a yield premium over equivalent high-yield corporate bonds. The managers believe this part of the fixed income market has been overlooked in the recent liquidity-driven rally, which has pushed high-yield corporate spreads to one of the narrowest levels on record. This means it can invest in higher-yielding securities without talking on as much credit risk, so around 60% of the fund is currently invested in investment-grade or double-B rated (just below investment-grade) credit."

Wish I had £1 for every punter who says they bought these for 4p in 2008. They were 4.4p for a nanosecond & the volume was tiny, so if you bought then you didn't buy many.

Just pointing out that GSF is not subject to the same rules as a REIT wrt dividend payments.

On or before 10th January, according to the RNS. Unless you sell them before, there will eventually be another payout to shareholders for the rump of assets once disposed, at which point the company will go into liquidation and your shares will either disappear or be worthless.

GSF isn't a REIT.

No no, fair enough gixer but let's not get carried away. We need to see evidence of a substantial reduction in losses, or a very clear pathway to that outcome, rather than just kicking the can down the road with the usual "substantial multiples" hype which is wearing very thin now.
