75p would be a blessing for Wood in its current shape and form. 200% premium at current price, at which anyone can buy (but many large holders are selling)

If there is no bid on the 17th, people will start selling like hell. Then by the 30th the share price will have been 15p and after that there will be a lot of “happy holders”. Holding for nobody knows how long and what outcome

I haven’t sold a share, but losing half the investment and then having the stock frozen for unknown period is something I would possibly like to avoid

I am an MD level M&A investment banker with 20 years of experience in oil and gas M&A and capital markets. I understand a bit how M&A works and how oil and gas works

At least some of Wood’s projects will be postponed or delayed in the current oil price environment

Even before accounting for this, Wood is going to lose 150-200 mn this year. Hugely profitable business indeed

They’ve falsified their accounts, they’ve breached their debt covenants. It is a complete mess now which can end up in a bankruptcy

And the share price speaks for itself

But you can continue to believe in a shiny future

In the meantime I just want to double my investment here and move somewhere else

Most importantly, the market does not believe in any offer, let alone some magical one, which is anything above 100p

Extending an M&A deal is never a good sign and any extension decreases the chances of the deal been eventually completed

If there is an extension on the 17th, this will mean the parties are far away from the deal announcement

Last year Sinara didn’t need any extensions. They know Wood inside out, it is not the matter of due diligence an any company issues

Just to give you a bit of analysis, rather than pure fantasies

The share price had been roughly 25p before the Sinara announcement

It then rose roughly to 40p where it traded for some time

These figures imply the market back theb thought there were a 60% chance of a 50p offer and, respectively a 40% chance of no offer (back to 25p)

The share price is now even below 25p. This means the market for whatever reasons does not believe in any offer any longer. And obviously there is a zero probability priced in of getting anything above 100p

You should stop thinking that the market is completely crazy and you are a genius. It can (and in many instances will) be painful

Than said, I still believe in the 40-50 offer hoping it will be top of the range

HelloDave, there have been 1300+ transactions with Wood’s shares just today where sellers (whoever they have been) decided the the share price was ok to sell

Even if that was the case (I never heard of it, so I take it for granted), 170% premium is an absolute outlier. This would convert into 67p for Wood

Still only half of the proposed 130 pence deal and the crazy 400% premium

It can easily be rejected and then we’ll see what the share price could be without a potential takeover. Hopefully, still in the 20s

LemonTree, good examples and I personally benefited from a couple of them (though exited earlier than I should have had)

That said, there are plenty of examples when decent businesses’ have collapsed and their stocks just became nothing

Meanwhile, today’s losses for FXPO have mostly reverted for now, I am surprised

At the same time, there are examples where Ukrainian stocks trade below net cash value ignoring the value of core assets altogether. One vivid example is ENW, pretty similar to FXPO in how the "central government" can ruin a highly successful business
