The recent update from Carnival gave the average age of the fleet as 12 years. P&O Aurora, Arcadia and Ventura are all older than that and Azura is 12 years. Expect at least one will be sold in not too distant. Topo, enjoy your cruise, we've had several nice cruises on Aurora, a classic ship. K

It matters to the 5000 folks that had their cruise cancelled and to P&O who will have to refund £6 million ish.

It's not in their hands. Apparently the dam on the River Ems is knackered so they can't complete the fit out on time. K

P&O have cancelled the maiden voyage of their new ship. Lots of unhappy punters including many small shareholders. K

It would be interesting to know which 12 vessels assigned to this arrangement. Presumably the oldest less economic ships. K

Now getting offers from P&O for 2025 cruises.
I never book even a year ahead and certainly would not go further in current market. K

Fordyce, Largely agree but P&O much more family orientated these days. Since Covid return with all issues aroun airports and airlines lots of
younger, less wealthy folks have taken up cruising. With their newer, larger vessels
P&O need to fill these megaships with a new breed hence the change in marketing push. K

I was discussing the Syme project with a former colleague who is the FD of a very large Timber & Building materials importer ( national chain)
He liked the idea and said it would be great in normal times as they import from distant places,
Plywood for example from South America and the Far East, sea journeys between 3 and 6 weeks.
Normally they would import it for inventory but these days it's largely sold on water and often paid for by customers even before UK arrival. Global shortages and long lead times means they have difficulty in building inventory so no need for Syme system in current market but he will investigate it further as he hadn't heard of it before. Bhants, If you look at high number of small deals, these are likely cruisers who buy a few for OBC a 100 or so and sell again once they have cruised.
CCL has a huge number of small holders who hold as they cruise regularly with Carnival brands. K

We did a World cruise in 2017, still only got £150.
A bit miffed as we'd spent it before first stop in Madeira. Lol
