remember it's a publicly traced bond. many of the holders are not in a position to negotiate that sort of deal.
indeed, if the company defaulted it would likely go into receivership and the bondholders would likely not get the chance.

look into where the bondholders stand in the case of administration.
bondholders lose the lot every day of the week in some company or other.
yhery have made good money till now and have been offered a way to safeguard tgheir capital and share in future succes. in many ways this is essentially a convertibe bond (something I know quite a bit about). believe me, if a bondholder doesn't like the deal they can sell their bonds in the open market. there would be great demand for a convert paying 2%

previous proposals rejected, seems highly likely there has been some horsetrading since then 'what do you want, what can you agree to' etc. this proposal will be what hs been agreed behond the scenes. you don't keep spending time and money coming up with proposals only to watch them all get rejected. the bond holders were in discussion with the company. of course it will probably only have been the larger holders that were fully engaged, hence it's a proposal. BUT, the smaller bond holders will know that the bigger holders agree and it will get signed off.

you won't hear from ps for some time, he/she will need some time to calm down and TRY to put a negative spin on this rns :)

the restructuring proposal will have been pre negotiated with the bond holders.
this removes the risk of default and is a sensible way to move forward for all concerned.
someone might say (and probably will) why would they tsake a lower inetrest rate? well they can't get even the 2% in the market today so a good deal for them.
