Such a vexing share this. Is wont to ladder down while gold and silver ladder up. It's sometimes like the company isn't a precious metals miner at all.

You're very probably right. Jumping in and out could be lucrative this time of year but I wouldn't like to call it either way, so I won't attempt it. It's almost peak boredom here though. Very tempted to sell if only to escape the tedium of this trading range, but we all know the moment you sell is when it'll find momentum. I'm (just) confident enough with the play that I'll hold and be ever patient. If we're still in the 850-925 range at the end of January I think even my patience will be exhausted.

Silver up quite meaningfully today. Historically PMs almost unerringly seem to do very well into the January - March window. It's reassuring that these are fairly seasonal doldrums that we've just come through and seem to be rising out of, so I imagine there's a lot of scope to ride the wave up from here.

Well, this share is on sale. Decent enough company, profitable, expanding, worth more than this. Just average in and profit. It's impossible to call the bottom, the risk is missing out on a bargain completely.

They're not allowed to buy near trading updates. If they were to buy now they'd be rightly accused of manipulating the share price to get in lower on news they just released. That they haven't is not a sign of lack of faith, but of compliance with regulations.

N Brown's SP woes were linked to buy now pay later credit lines were they not? Not sure how that invites a comparison with boo, who I don't believe offer such a service do they?

Fair enough. We all interpret the macroeconomic landscape differently. I see it as not unlikely to reach 2000 within the next 6 months, and 2400 within the next 3 years.

And what will you do with that marked post when it doesn't? If we hold you to it, what are you going to do?

If you're going to assert things, it's usually good form at least to try to substantiate it with evidence. What are you seeing down the pipeline that the market isn't?

For my two cents, since you asked; I would say it is not unlikely. I'd say there's probably an 80% chance that in 6 months it'll be in (or ideally above) the 170-180 range.

Because historically all those things are good for budget retailers... and everyone else has to pay the higher costs too. They've not lost a competitive edge if every competitor has to absorb higher shipping costs as well.

That's not how the market works. If the facts become clear, the share would not be at 80p. You'll be at the back at a very long queue of people who already piled in before you. You'll have well and truly missed the boat.

Who pays you to fact check every Purplebricks listing? Genuine question. Seem to observe you doing this day after day, hour after hour, for months on end.

Sure, I'm not sure Purplebricks stacks up to a well built wall; revenues are small and don't seem to be going anywhere, market share is very meh, I would agree it doesn't seem very inspiring at the moment... but just don't invest. It might be a company going nowhere very quickly, but I'm not sure it has anything to do the personal crusade against it that you seem to have embarked upon.

It's mostly that Gold is indifferent to rate rises. Those rate rise cycles are a response to inflationary cycles that the rate rises are trying to control. So it looks like Gold rises into interest rate rises, but it's just gold soaring on high inflation. The correlation is there, but I'd say it's only causation by proxy.

This point may have been made before, but are these not base effects? Lockdowns last year were boomtime for Boohoo and Asos. This year, in countries with highstreets and retail in tact (the UK increasingly is an exception to this), demand will have drifted back to brick and mortar stores (US and EU). But that doesn't mean Boohoo has necessarily contracted in these regions, they still seem to have grown substantially from 2019 and beyond pre-pandemic 2020-21 projections. Materially it looks like a bigger, stronger company than when it was valued at over double the SP in 2019., but it's just not going to compare favourably this year to a one-off windfall year last year. This price therefore seems ridiculously attractive.

If BoE holds off on rate rises again later, gold ought to head above 1800.

I don't think the market is buying what the fed is selling.

They're saying on the one hand they expect inflation to halve next year and conveniently keep falling neatly into their 2% target, but the dot plot says all members expect to raise rates to between 2 and 3% by 2024. Why exactly would they need such aggressive rate rises year on year for the forseeable future if they're so sure inflation will dissipate on its own long before they even have a chance to start raising rates and seeing an effect. It doesn't add up. The dot plot screams an expectation of high inflation, but their stated inflation expectation tries to pretend that inflation is still "transitory".

Metals are going to do well into the new year, at least until March, now that we more or less have a timescale for the end of taper and initial rate rises. I think the market will adjudge that it's too little and too slow, especially if CPI keeps surprising to the upside.
