Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe...finally released and back home, its great news for the family and her loved ones!

Just begs the question, why did it take 6 years for our government to pay the debt owed to the Iranians from the 1970's? The government stance was on the lines of, we will not pay the debt, we will not negotiate and we will place sanctions on Iran...comedy gold!

The timing is odd, to the point it appears contrived , the government paid the debt, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe comes home, and it will be front page news for a day or so and forgotten, seems like the government is trying to save face and hoping the news gets buried and forgotten whilst the focus is on the wall to wall coverage of the Russian/Ukrainian conflict.

How are Iran, Afghan a problem?
Iran won't sing or dance to the US tune, the US will go any length to protect the 51st state, even though the latter is on another continent.

Afghan, we (UK/US) created the mess there, supported and backed the freedom fighters at the time of the Russian invasion, those fighters fought hard and the Russians left, and the UK/US and West turned their back on Afghan, and broke the promises to help re-build the country.

All about protecting self interests....lol

I said it all along, this conflict is between mad Putin, and comedian Zelenksy and his masters. It will end when enough damage has been done, and enough lives have been lost, all un-necessary !

This could have been avoided without a bullet being fired, but in a crazy world we live in, Putin wanted to show Russian might, and NATO wanted to give the Russians a blooded nose, and throw Zelensky in the mix and we end up with a toxic mix!

These politicians sleep very well at night, they don't have an ounce of guilt or remorse in their bodies, in fact they are soulless.

Lets hope for a swift end, and people can pick themselves up and re-build their shattered lives.

I for one not endorsing Putin and his actions, not for one moment!! and I'm sure 99% others on here are not endorsing Russian invasion either.

However, there are two sides and two stories to this conflict, its always wise to look at both sides before condemning or passing judgement. This conflict hasn't overnight, its been brewing and simmering for good 20 years, each side is blaming the other, the simple truth and reality suggest this is the super powers playing out their long drawn out agendas.

In the midst of this carnage is the civilian, they have done wrong, yet they are caught in the cross fire, lives being lost, just total madness!!

I said it right from the offset, when enough damage has been done, enough lives lost, these soulless politicians will find a way to end the conflict, they will conjuncture up some face saving deals, in that both sides will look victorious.

One has to look around the carnage, and ask, victory at what price?

You're right, I don't think Zelensky or NATO thought Putin would go this far, and if that is they case, then both have miscalculated and failed in their judgement.

People of Ukraine were, are and hopefully going forward will be free, to lead and live their lives to the full without fear of being under control. Having said that, Russia under the leadership of Putin, will not allow or standby and see Ukraine join NATO, thats the red line, Cuban missile crisis in reverse.

Only handful of leaders of the past 100 years you would say were truly great......they changed (for the better) the lives of millions, and maybe billions, change course of history, shaped future nations and thinking.....only handful I'm afraid.
