Evening , Porky I think that is exactly what is happening. You are correct It could be done in situ at the moment by Versalab, with numbers at this level. It would be quicker. It states in all write ups re surge testing PCR and off to lab. Upon arrival at lab they could use either Primer SNPsig or Thermo SNP for genotyping tests , then take those postives not identified and run through full sequencing . It would be a faster approach then waiting for full sequencing and speed is of the essence in making decisions regarding lockdowns etc. Whose test they are using is anyones guess.
The Versalab is brilliant in remote areas with no easy lab access. Very few companies globally can do this sort of testing ,so if not being utilised right now in UK I am 100% confident that it will be in all those countries which cannot run full sequencing - most of the ROW. Happy Saturday all K
