“Malone and the Renewable Energy team wrote the requirements for the system and coordinated with a contractor that produced the hardware. The team will test and evaluate the system in a lab at China Lake before sending it out with troops for field testing.
“Since this system only needs water to operate, one of its biggest benefits is reducing the logistics requirements associated with fuel convoys, which could save lives,” says Wayne Taylor, program manager for the Renewable Energy Office.

from the interims 2012 ………. “The Company has also continued its third-party research services contract, now in its third year, paid for by the US Department of Defense, a major US industrial manufacturer, and a number of leading US Universities. Due to the Company's long-established and world-leading expertise in alkaline electro-catalysis, Acta is retained as an expert for the testing and characterisation of new catalysts and membranes developed by the project partners.”

From the original RNS ……….“The contract is part of the US Department of Defense ("DoD") project won by DuPont for the development of a Next Generation Man Wearable Power System, which aims to develop a small, lightweight, efficient and low cost wearable fuel cell system to power the US infantry's electronic battlefield equipment. The system will be based on alkaline membrane fuel cell technology and non-platinum catalysts, in order to achieve the technical and commercial criteria specified by the DoD.”
