Good on ya, Volatilityisgood (nice handle, by the way) – we really have got under his skin. What testpack3 doesn’t appreciate is that if there weren’t for GENUINE shareholders like us investing in PLUS500, he wouldn’t have its share to take a punt on. It’s good he’s gone the extra mile and also told us how much money he’s made on his bet – but like most bragging gamblers, we will probably only hear about his winners and not his losers!

Here's my last message on dividends and to you in particular. You're not a shareholder (as you intimated you were), when telling us you received 'your dividend' on 24 March - as if you had been favoured ahead of other shareholders. And yes, here's another reference about CFD traders, of which you have admitted to being one: "CFD trading is very similar to shares trading except that when you trade a contract for difference you don't own the underlying share. Unlike investing in stocks, when you trade CFDs, you are not buying or trading the underlying asset. What you are buying is a contract between yourself and the CFD provider.' In other words, you're a punter (like the ones found at Ascot and Kempton Park) and may I suggest a deceitful one at that! . You're certainly NOT a shareholder, so please don't pontificate to GENUINE shareholders on the subject of dividends, as you know little or nothing about them. My discussion here was never about the advantages of CFDs over share ownership, or vice versa, so it's pointless trying to extend this any further. So now it's "Goodnight from me" (in memory of the late Ronnie Corbett) .

I stand by what I said - the 41.5p per share paid to you on 24 March was NOT a dividend. You are also right that I know little about CFDs, so I would refer you to the following internet reference: "Dividend charges or credits are very similar to interest charges, because they are used to ensure that CFDs mirror the value of their underlying stocks. If a trader holds a long CFD on a stock during a dividend payment period, they will receive payment for that dividend on the ex-dividend date, from the BROKERAGE COMPANY. (not the company paying the dividend)." You are clearly not a genuine shareholder and you know even less about dividends (or how they are paid) than you do about CFDs. DYOR

testpack3 - if you received it on 24 March, it most certainly didn't come from PLUS, nor can it be considered to be an actual dividend. I think HeresHopin is spot on here - it is most likely to be a cash adjustment from a third party, as a result of a CFD transaction. Genuine PLUS shareholders need not panic, or be concerned!

That's a new one on me (a former FD of a public-listed UK co). If what you say is true, I can only assume IG is paying your divi out of the its own funds (something to do with how CFDs work, possibly??). The purpose of having a record date of 29 March is so the company can then issue the dividend to the name of the shareholder on its share register as shown at that date. Its inconceivable that PLUS (or any other dividend-paying company for that matter) would know to pay you prior to the record date. Indeed PLUS will not release the cash for the dividend until 11 May, as stated in its RNS. GLA

Understand what you are saying here, testpack3. Note that two-thirds of today's trades are computer-generated, so difficult to buck this downward spiral unless the progamme is changed. Perhaps the company feels that a formal RNS in response to this latest SP drop would give the news article more credence than it actually deserves. Seems like this share will drift sideways (or drop further) until the trading update next month.

I agree with you that the article is cleverly worded with the phrase "...traded on the London Stock Exchange, which can convey legitimacy" The article appears to be targeting binary options carried out by unregulated businesses and goes on to admit (somewhat begrudgingly) that PLUS500 is a regulated business. There is also an additional acceptance that London's Financial Conduct Authority (under which PLUS500 had been vigorously investigated resulting in the company improving its compliance procedures) is a regulator of global high repute.

Point noted re special divi. However, even removing the special from the total divi, we have a yield of 5.27% on SP @ 660p. Still undervalued IMO.

On the subject of dividends for 2015, the total pay out (inc. special dividend) is 84.05 US cents. At say, $1.45 in £, that equates to 57.97 pence per share. Taking into account claim for part recovery of Israeli withholding tax, the 57.97 pence dividend is both net and gross. On current price of 658p, I reckon the dividend yield to be 8.81% (not 2.93% as shown on this website) - I have asked LSE to look into this anomaly. Does anyone here agree with my calculations? If so and assuming 2016 results will be no worse than 2015 (and with current market volatility, why should they be?), then IMO this share is seriously undervalued.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments Dan, it is no laughing matter. The Playtech deal was hatched up by the two consenting parties. If you remember the outrageous terms of this deal, we shareholders weren't even going to receive an interim dividend on the first half year's results for 2015 - its was only after the deal broke down, that an interim dividend was eventually declared. Had it not been for the timely intervention of the third party regulator coming to PLUS500's defence, we wouldn't be sitting here feeling quite so smug. A word of warning here! - Playtech is supposedly cleaning up its own regulatory shortcomings and is apparently back on the acquisition trail - let's hope that there is no repeat of another 'cosy' bid at a price undervaluing PLUS500's true potential.

If only LSE would publish a more accurate dividend yield (currently shown as 3.36). With total dividend of 84 cents per share declared on 2015 results, I reckon yield should be revised to over 10.0. Anyone agree?

No, not quite right. According to the Daily Telegraph today, the FCA was uncomfortable in approving the takeover as Playtech has little, or no experience in running a business requiring a significant degree of financial regulation. Meanwhile, Plus500 has continued to trade and 5 months further down the line, has hopefully corrected the weaknesses previously exposed by the FCA. We all thought Playtech's offer price was an absolute steal. Let's see what happens in the forthcoming months.....

Latest RNS shows 2nd quarter 2015 revenues at $43m (cf. 2014 of $45m). Revenues for 1st half-year 2015 of $125m (cf. 2014 of $106m). Cash balances @ 30 June 2015 were $95m (cf. 2014 of $115m). To me, this is an improvement in the company's financial base. It most certainly does not justify a panic sale to Playtech @ £4 per share, when we achieved 770p earlier this year before this temporary setback. Seems like PIs have been well & truly screwed on this takeover made by a fellow Israeli-based company. Worse still, there does not appear likely to be an interim dividend on these latest improved figures. Comments, please!
