RE: One of these fine days….5 Jun 2024 19:23
FWIW I'll throw my two'penth into the mix.
Newmont want Cash not IOU's to pay-down the monies they spent on Newcrest so no NSR's for them.
So how much should we pay them?Given the 5% (as per RNS 21/07/22) was priced at US$ 60m, if I remember correctly, then we should pay them 14 x 5% (ie the errant 70%) would come out at US$ 840m for the mine. For Telfer - well is it I'll take off your hands for $100 (scrap value I dont know).
So this makes US$ 940m. Newmont will blag it's a $1bn and GGP will say "look" we got it all for less than $1bn.
How do we pay for it? We know we can get bank loans and one would expect SD to structure the debt as cleverly as WE KNOW he can.
Maybe, just maybe, as part of that there is some small NSR with someone like Ecora (who like to invest in 'green minerals') so we could think maybe 0.5% NSR for 5 years with US$200m to us to help balance the books.
... if sure others will have their view. Improve on my thoughts by all means.
