Re: Dow are you say that if 2 American companies, 1 with 20 million shares at $10 and another with 500 million shares at $10 go ex-dividend for a dividend amount of 30 cents that the adjustment to Dow Jones at opening would be the same ? if that is true then that is as mad as Donald Trump last Teleprompter speach that he obviously never wrote.

Umm How do they make adjustments on Ex-Dividend days ? I wonder

I see now. The Dow is only 30 companies. our FTSE 100 is currently 7200, some 7.7% down from the recent high of 7798. I hope it doesn't drop further.

the Dow yesterday 4.00pm was 25517 then at 4.00am on the IG or futures it dropped to 23114, a drop of 2403, this is ridiculous. Since when has interest going to go up been knew news ? I know you know, the whole market knows so why this ridiculous drop ?

a 1% drop on the DOW from last night close would mean an opening price at 2.30pm out time of 24100. It is not that at the moment but at 9.00am it was 24164

The DOW closed last night at 24345... it is currentley trading on IG at 23766, just over 2% down on last nights close. However in the middle if the night it went as low as 23120

They have paid 80p dividend for the past 4 yrs and 78p before that. I don't think there will be any change to the dividend amount.

GSK is down at the moment the same as the FTSE100 which is 1.5% as I write. Not too bad really

Next Ex-Dividend date is 5th April paid 18th May.. After that the Special Ex-Dividend (the big one) 14th June to be paid 4th July. After that another small one Ex-Dividend 22nd August to be paid 4th October.

The drop on GSK in USA was about 2.2% after our FTSE market closed at 4.30pm. I think we might open around �12.50 on Tuesday

GSK dropped 4.3% on American market.

What should we expect for earnings release on Wednesday ? Good or bad news ? Will we be told anything about dividend ?

I know the final results are out on 22nd Feb, what makes you think the Dividends stands a good chance of been increased ?.. I am also interested to buy more shares at this price.

I just think once we manage to break though and stay above 212p then we are heading to 230p or 240p. This is the reason I have not been tempted to sell at the last high. At 199p with this years dividend of 15p to come it's too cheap.

I still think it will be 230 / 240p before the special dividend in June.
