im never quite sure what is best thing to do regarding these dividends so that is why ive sold half. I have a 50/50 chance of been right. but even if I am wrong ive made a nice profit on the shares I have sold

Are you leaving your short on till Thursday. If you do you pay the divi which should be offset by drop in share price

it is very hard trying to find the top SP just before it goesxex-dividend, Quite often it is not on the Wednesday. I have just sold half my Barratt shares in my ISA at 699p, I am very happy with that after having an average sp of 615p. I would need to buy back at 662 to cover the dividend and stamp duty. If I can do this I get to reinvest the dividend money in the shares right now rather than waiting, plus I have another small amout of uninvested cash in my ISA which I could spend aswell.

When can I show these shares in my accounts as been sold at zero. Can I put these through as a loss on this years books 2017 /18 ? For me about �12000 loss

unfortunately I bought 100,000 of these back in July 2015 when they were 2p. LOL. Tried to forget about them. Trying to sort out my portfolio now. Can anybody tell me what is happening with Oilex LTD. The website is not working. Cheers for any info

Judge-mental I had �20 a point on Barratt in IG index i had limit set at 630, all positions closed and made me a profit of �548. IF IF IF i didnt have the limit I could have closed at 640 and made another �200, BUT why beat yourself up about that, I was happy with the �548 ( this postion was in quite a few hundreds loss a few weeks ago )

I am holding on to my Barratt and TW in my ISA. I see further gains. I sold the 3500 Barratt shares as they were bought with borrowed money. �1230 profit minus �70 interest is a good deal in a 2 to 3 weeks.

when i bought them using borrowed trading reserve money in HSBC my target price was 630 within one month

sold 3500 shares at �6.40... bought on 8th and 14th Sept, Average �6.05... Profit �1235, interest to pay to HSBC trading reserve account about �70, sweet deal.

on the 1st of Sept we touched 628 then things went wrong and we fell to 581, now almost back to 600. I think it is very achievable for the SP to get back to 628 or higher in the 5 weeks we have left before Ex-Divi date. I have a holding of these in my ISA which I don't intend to sell. But the 3000 shares I bought in my normal account on borrowed money I will sell, I am hoping for 630 which would give me a £900 profit less £90 interest for a month.

Who ever owns the shares when the market closes on the Wednesday is the person that gets the Dividend.
