I agree. I find myself in predominately in oils and gold and a legacy copper investment. I avoid anything in the high street (and have also therefore backed out of REITS, given the treatment of rents by Mike Ashley (quite legitimately in my view, no criticism of him implied) when taking on collapsed High Street chains). Early stage pharmaceuticals are a nightmare of frequent cash calls (I just sold Verona pharma just in time, my interest there was an early stage CF drug as I know a sufferer). CAKE was ,I thought, interesting following their suspension, hoped a leaner, closely scrutinised well managed chain would result that I could invest in. Unfortunately they are now a basket case liable to be sold as a pre-pack to a private equity firm. I am finding it increasing hard to feel confident about anything, but I have to say (getting back on topic) that providing the diligent conservative management of AAU continues then AAU seems a glowing exception. I have met the BOD and unless they are very, very good con men then you couldn't meet a nicer bunch. Not sure they will like being called a bunch!
