I have no strong feelings about this, not to sure how others feel. AAU have made strategic investments before which proved successful, but on the other hand it does beg the question whether there is any better way to employ capital. If there is excess then maybe regular dividends could commence immediately, knowing that production at Tavsan should be able to continue these in 2/3 years? I didn't really buy buy AAU to get shares in an investment company. Short term PoG and announcements on (successful) Tavsan financing are the drivers I think.

Having said that personally I'm not concerned, and agree with MrRealistic that people wouldn't be proposing new mines in a commodity that had no future. You don't hear of many new coal mines! And as reteps points out, the lead time and cost barriers for any new mining and/or processing venture are substantial for any new entrant.
Can any of you better informed folks tell me why Lithium seems to be the number 1 mass storage proposal at the moment? Is it because VRFBs are still uneconomic (by comparison) or that are not yet readily available in large quantities (itself a chicken and egg situation, supply will drive demand while demand will be driven by supply)? Is there any 3rd/ 4th.... alternative?
In the risk averse society we now live, the fire risk of Lithium could be decisive. I assume the risk is much lower in VRFBs? It's as if there is a PR problem the moment that the VRFB is struggling with, but once there there the prospects are bright - mention storage batteries to the public and they will say Lithium, mention Vanadium at present and all you get is blank looks .... but that will not be true in the industry, which is all that really matters.

Some posters seem more than a little keen to attack others views, and I would have thought that as ZNWDs SP now stands 33% down on their 2021 high then that could be considered a significant move - especially as ZNWDs values affect the value of GFs bid

If it wasn't for the prospect of this share offer going unconditional there is a very real chance that the current SP would be very red this morning. i note ZNWD is 18.5p

I can only assume this is to do with the currency crisis and Turkish politics. Our commodities are $ denominated, PoG is not exciting but stable. Why else should we be at the lowest SP in about 18 months?

Envious of your trip in your Van, Van Van (see what I did there?). Good post, though I'm not as optimistic as you about production at Tavsan within 12 months, or your appraisal of PoG - explosion in gold price has been predicted for years and hasn't really happened. In theory inflation causes increase in PoG, but despite inflation now being established world wide its not really happening. AAU isn't really dividend paying, its just a series of one offs (if there is such a thing). I can see a possible regular divi once Tavsan is debt free.

Don't worry about me. As life progresses I have grown a thick hide and give out as good as I get. Its really good to still speak with DJ, Van, Claret, your good self, Stranger (who took rather better decisions than me at BCN!) and Willow.

Yep jam, to all but corporate lawyers this is a clear as mud. I don't think i have ever been involved in anything while investing so un-clearcut. Much is said in the corporate world about 'plain English' so that even thickos like me can understand and not be ripped off. What the **** is plain English about RNS releases concerning this share grab/ potential takeover?

Thanks for that. Agree with you about Tavsan, It always was a short payback projected of just over a year. Of course that was originally more significant when I was first here, as the LOM at Tavsan when I first invested was only 3 years. Now it is 8 years or more. So then, provided Salinbas is progressing satisfactorily, I can see the possibility of regular premiums once debt free. The question is when will Tavsan be debt free, which brings me back to the debate over constantly missed deadlines - historic presentations have oddly disappeared from the website but plenty exist on Youtube - including a presentation in mid 2017 that contained a Gantt chart which had Tavsan construction and commissioning in 2019, production commencing Q1 2020. Missed that then!

Yes, AAU is a good holding now, not one that you feel the need to watch like a hawk. Its becoming a comfy pair of slippers, and there is nowt wrong with that sometimes. I would agree that Dr S seems less focussed than I would ideally like, especially as this is a company which revolves about him as a pivotal figure.

Haven't really worked your figures but I don't think we have an all in cost figure to derive a true net, which is different (and higher) than the cash cost of production quoted. We used to have a poster on here (for some reason whose name escapes me) who was an accountant and really had a handle on this. Sadly he seems to have disappeared, I assume he sold out.
