Wall slipped in mixed trading though the Dow held up well as its less reliant on "big tech" evidenced by the Nsdq dropping for the 4th straight session, 113 points yesterday.

Techs were hit by a double whammy of economic data and China banning the use of iphones. Apple which derives 20% of its revenues in China tanked over $200bn in the last 2 days taking Nvidia & AMD down with them.

Huawei unveiled its new ultrafast Mate 60 Pro mobile which is causing concern in Washington as its thought China will build a domestic chip ecosystem to rival the West.

Washington concerns are essentially how has China got the tech savvy to make such advanced chips following efforts by the US to restrict their access to foreign chip technology.

Morning all.

Shares enter the 2nd half of the week on 57 deals. Sells outpacing buys by 3:1 as a result of volume rise on the MSi weapon system contract.

On January 4th, 2023 the shares opened at 665 slumping to 442 in late May which proved to be the years low. A recovery of sorts has seen the shares turn positive hitting an intraday high of 730 a day or so ago.

At 670-710 there's much to play for heading into 2024 as long as the company updates investors on all the latest news, RNS required or not. I'd put newsflow near the top of my list of gripes that many Aim companies fail to update investors adequately, after all we are part owners!

On the economic front the Fed's Beige Book snapshot on the economy a week ahead of the August inflation data and the Sept 20 rates decision

showed modest growth in recent weeks while job growth remained subdued as inflation slowed in most parts of the country. Traders were betting on a 93% chance the Fed will 'stay pat' on rate rises.

On US exchanges 9•4bn shares changed hands compared with the 10•20bn moving averages for the last 20 sessions. The S&P posted 6 new 52 wk highs and 25 new lows. Decliners out paced risers by 2•05:1. Growth heavy techs lost the most while defensives and energy were the only 2 gainers.

Of note Apple slumped $7 to $183 on a report that China had banned officials at central govt agencies from using iPhones and other foreign brand devices for work.

Lockheed Martin ($424) fell c.5% after the US weapons maker trimmed the delivery outlook for its F-35 jets. Roku rose 3% when the co said it would cut its workforce by 10% and cease hiring.

Stocks ended lower yesterday after posting strong gains last week. The major averages ended in negative territory though the Nsdq managed a few brief spells above the flatline. History shows equity mrkts in Sept and October can be sticky.

Crude oil prices climbed on Tuesday after Saudi Arabia and Russia announced they will extend their voluntary production cuts by 3 months. WTI crude oil futures ended higher by $1•14 at $86.69.

Gold and Silver fell yesterday as a strong US$ index & rising T/Bill yields saw metal mrkts turn sellers. Dec gold futures were down $14 at $1953 as bulls were discouraged by China reporting more downbeat economic data.

One of the UKs most senior Bankers has warned Britain's capital mrkts that domestic investors have all but abandoned backing UK businesses and warned the mrkt is at risk of falling into a "doom loop".

The nos of companies listed in the UK has almost halved over 25 years and new business money was the lowest total since 1980 in real terms. At the same time innovative new business is fleeing in droves. Consider Aim listed pharma Ergomed agreeing a £703m takeover by Permira a private equity business.

Despite having all the building blocks in place to develop bigger and better capital mrkts UK investors prefer to sink their money in corner coffee shops and Poundland companies instead of seeking longterm value that would require investment for expansion and funding for tech up'grades and acquisitions. One in particular near to home comes to mind who at least have a solid long-term foothold in the States after years of hand'holding will pay off for holders.

Meanwhile European defence stocks rallied as analysts predicted an increase in shareholder returns and more deal making across the industry next year. BOA expect RR to reinstate dividends shortly as cash flows have surged. RR is one of the best performers in the ftse 100 this year.

Wall St was closed yesterday on account of Labour Day holiday. On Friday stocks in NY closed on a positive note.

Across the globe Asian mrkts are all trading lower. News China's services sector growth slowed to an 8 month low in August dampened sentiment despite the Centra Bank announcing stimulus measures which helped limit the falls.

Stocks in Shanghai were down 16 at lunch following falls on the Nikkei and Hang Seng. Tokyo was in danger of snapping a 6 day winning streak slipping below the 32,900 level as

business activity expanded. Firms confirmed greater consumer spend and customer nos. Shares have recovered morning losses and are heading to a 6th straight daily gain.

In Sydney the ASX gave up early gains off 45 points to below 7300 as business activity contracted in August.

The Reserve Bank is expected to hold its benchmark policy rate at 4•1% for the 3rd consecutive month.

Morning all.

Well put Prof 1. While the sp sulks in the dumps its amazing that our overall assets in West Africa barely rate a note in the qualifying statements! No accounting for the mrkts stubbornly attitude towards Panthera. Luckily they have the wherewithal to adjust their prices at the drop of a hat while we sit and suffer.

I'd guess most of us are tapped out at this level so it's fingers crossed other investors will see what they are missing out on! Once the penny drops the shares will.....well look out!

A fair start to the week shares gained 10 to (710-740) on c.42,830 traded, 9000 buys and 33,830 sells. Deals placed were 14 buys and 14 sells.

Given the scope for profit taking after Fridays big jump in the sp it was an excellent performance. I'm not a seller at this price so it's likely day traders are locking in gains which suits me just fine.

Asia opened mostly higher this morning tracking Wall St moves on Friday. Supporting the mrkts optimism news that the world's second bigest economies manufacturing base unexpectedly expanded in August boosted investors hopes that the economy could be turning. China's main index was up 35 in morning trade and trades 2•5% up ytd.

Japan moved above the 32,800 level as gains in resource related stocks amid a spike in commodity prices saw the 225 ahead 150 at lunch. The Nikkei is up over 1000 points since last Friday on China economy turnaround hopes.

Sydney followed Asian stocks higher across most sectors the ASX200 climbing above the 7300 level led up by mining, energy and better commodity prices.

Morning all.

A quick update on shares outstanding which should be useful for holders.

At the last count there were 17,841,073m shares which represented the total share capital of MSi. Of these 1,522,994m shares were held in treasury leaving 16,318,079m for the rest of us which may be used by holders should they be required to notify the Co of their interest in the shares. I doubt many will.

Directors and iis holdings amount to c.11•75m shares (c.72%) of the shares. The balance (28%) of (c.4•6m) of the shares are up for grabs between the remaining holders.

Given the free shares amount to under 5m there will be intense competition to acquire any shares evidenced by the 50,000 traded yesterday which boosted the price 100p. Don't expect to fill your wants anywhere near the current spread (700-740). Its not going to happen unless you pay well above the spread.

The recent supply and product

contract win boosts the cmpanies order book to c.£165m a considerable uplift from 3 years ago. Regrettably we're never going to be valued at US rates while we plough a lone furrow with little noticeable help from the MOD.

Earnings per share could easily hit 50p+ at the next review leaving the p/er a very manageable 14x. I wouldn't discount the earnings ratio dropping to just 11 next year.

A strong order book is crucial to small defence companies and MSi has this well in hand at nearly 2x the mrkt value and operating margins above the industry 9% average. This bodes well for MSi going forward.

However I think investors will start to query why the company doesn't monetise our defence capabilities more forcibly especially if our order book grows to £400m in the near future. Currently we are a lop-sided looking mini conglomerate that to my eyes doesn't knit together.

Shares jumped c.100p on news of a US Navy contract win worth around £50m. Hopefully this the start of several more contracts that the company have been in pursuit of for many months. .

On the face of it its hardly ground breaking but in % terms its substantial given its c.50% of the mrkt capital. Shares bounded up 15% to 730 on c.40,160 traded. Buys outpacing sells by c.4•55:1 on 71 trades dealt.

It should be noted this contract is for supplies and maintenannce. Hopefully following this award the company will be awarded a full production and supply contract related to the MK3 MOD4 weapon system of which they are confident of winning.

Still undervalued and under the radar, a solid buy imo on a 2-5 year view.

A certain worlds greatest investor said charts and the like are complete hogwash. Actually I think he said tech analysis is s**t.

So I'm not about to diss WB who has made more money for investors than any man on earth. Check his nos. His compounded annual gain 1965-2022 is 19•8% and his overall gain 1964-2022 is 24•7%. In per share mrkt value of BH an overall gain of 3,787% over the same time period.

I know next to nothing about squiggly line theory but accept it works for some, mostly day traders I suspect. I just can't devote enough time to follow wavy lines, bar charts and the like even if I could understand what they are telling me. Now if it could tell me about the future I'd be on board.

I get it helps traders to understand what may be about to happen based on patterns of the past but what if it don't? I'll leave it to the experts cos I know I'd bugger it up.

Picked up a few 'cheapos' from my dividend cheque something I don't think i have ever done before. It could become irresistible.....just kidding.

Went straight into purchasing more shares which reduced my avc, my preferred option as cash doesn't appeal given how easy it slips through

ones fingers.

Excellent analysis Prof. I'd be very surprised if the GOR advisors haven't figured out the futility of going it alone to develope such an asset. They may not see us as natural partners given the back history which would suit us just fine if we're compensated commensurably.

I favour a clean break away from all the hands in pies fracas that would bound to happen. We sure don't want to get involved in all the buckshee pay offs that would inevitably result! Let's start at $1bn and move on for who in their right mind wants to deal with Indian skullduggery the next 20 years.

US stocks regained some of early Aug losses on back of outperforming tech stocks and gains on the 500.

On the economy private employers added 177,000 jobs in Aug well below July's 371,000 and annual GDP growth nos were revised downwards to 2•1% from 2•4%.

The S&P has climbed 3% over the last 4 trading days adding 17 points yesterday boosted by energy & healthcare while utilities lag in the dog house. However all the action is among FAANG stocks which investors cont to chase tech ever higher.

Shares of Apple rose $4 to $188 after the company sent out invites for a September 15 launch event to unveil (4) of its new iPhone 15 models. Along with cosmetic changes the phone will have enhanced storage, memory and a USB-C charging port. But customers brace for a $100-$200 price hike.

Tesla after a difficult August is up 8% this week though supply is running ahead of demand according to brokers. Several houses have sell notes out on the stock as it faces more scrutiny over its driver assistance system known as "Elon mode" (no hands on the wheel). The Co has been ordered to hand over all the data.

Finally you can't keep Nvidia out of the headlines as the company announced a partnership with Google that will involve its technology being sold through Google cloud. Shares hit a new record close of $493.
