Starmer is under pressure from his rich paymaster barons to launch a tax raid on wealthy Britons' assets should Labour win the next election. This would include family homes, cars, artworks, cash in banks and investments.
Luxury watches & jewellery are up 10% this year according to estate agency Knight Frank. But beware the sector is unregulated and finding the 'next good thing' is difficult as tastes change.
The TUC general secretary had the affront to accuse wealthy British households of 'coining it in', hoarding wealth and getting richer and richer while ordinary folk struggle to pay their bills. I wonder if his view of wealthy British households includes his bountiful wage packet of £167,229 a year?
They will never ever get it, wealth taxes do not work. They hinder raising significant revenue and damage the economy with growth already under pressure. Norway's wealth tax which is charged at a rate of 1•1% has been blamed for driving some of its bigest taxpayers out of the country.
As ever socialists and to be fair the current Govt would rather divide the pie than grow it, happy to borrow billions for unreformed public services and allowing debt & interest to grow at an alarming rate. Those of us left face a lifetime of paying higher taxes to make up for aneamic growth in the face of all this eco, net zero and trans stuff.
Sad to say the Tories lead the tax raid on ordinary citizens pockets and will be severely punished for not cutting taxes, dealing with the illegal boat people and letting the work shy live the life of O'riley's.
The tragedy is both parties are more than happy to see us once again become the 'sick man' of Europe plagued by industrial strife and poor economic performance. As ever you and me will foot the bill.
Morning all.
