B/Bulls call to short REA at 57•75 tough call when buy vols outpace sells and cpo prices are way up on last year.
No doubt some have made money on the short side which has been the direction of travel for months.

OK the nos mean diddly as chartists trade to different methods preferring to make buy /sell decisions on predicated squiggly line theories etc... Lets see if they get it right.

I wonder if REA will plant a palm tree this year? Land is available & cash shouldn't be a constraint. Its essential to plant for the future, a) to reduce the Estate maturity average and b) future output growth.

Extension planting has been on hold since 2017 (1842ha planted in 2016 will mature in 2020/1). Nurseries have been maintained and seedlings are in supply. Currently of the 36•1kha, 33kha are mature plantings and have a weighted average of 15 years so past their peak production life.

Other London Palmers had a good day yesterday, Anglo +12, Dkl +0•35, Mpe up 23 and Rea 1•5. Cannot speak for the other risers but suspect the runaway cpo price and decent vlo had something to do with REAs tick up. REA (has previous in this regard) never does double digit rises, well it did once in the distant past.

Yesterday for instance buys outpaced sells by 12:1 for a miserable 1 tick up. Had that been Mpe well your looking at a 50 rise (9,000 traded yesterday, 2•5:1 buyers). Granted a £6 share is unlikely to have the volume of a penny stock but ya gotta wonder.

Respected analyst James Fry says weather disruption and labour shortages mean global palm oil output is unlikely to stay on trend to hit growth projections of 6mt this year (Mal 1mt+, Indonesia 4•5mt+).
One of the surprises has been biodiesel as consumption rose despite a fall in diesel use in some countries and a collapse in crude last year.
He predicts Govts will continue to support the biodiesel industry after leading bio-d consumers (US, Indo, Germany & Brazil) increased their mandates in 2020.

Separately India's Solvent Extractors Assoc said palm oil consumption is expected to be negative 2% in 2021, importing (7-8mt) for the oil. Soybean (3mt) and Sunflower (1•75mt).

The Dow bounds ever higher up 544 at mid session tracking advances in the East, Europe & London which surged 230 on the 'what lockdown' day.

US investors ignored preconceived ideas about a Socialist leaning Govt and piled into economy linked stocks. Banks hit a 12 month high tracking a sharp rise in the 10ytb (1•054%), GS jumped $14 to $285, JPMC up $6 to $132 & Amex added $5 ($124) while the Energy sector cont yesterday's strong run gaining c.5%, Chevron up $3 to $90 and WTI $50•85.
Big techs Apple ($128) & Msoft ($214) were early losers as investors rotate out of stretched tech values into battered covid stocks. Airlines were chased higher, Spirit +4%, Southwest 3% & Boeing caught the eye up $6 ($215). Cruises reflecting weak bookings were little changed.

Not so Elon Musk the gravity defying wunderkid benefitted from a Morgan Stanley note who lifted their price target to $810. Fundamentals mean little to Tesla Fandoms, metrics like the stock trades on 15xEV/sales, stratospheric pe/r blah blah blah..., its the story you buy into nothing else. Early deals were done at $759 and towards close had powered up to $772 later trimmed to $763 on 44•4m deals.
At the other end of the Tesla graph Barclays Motor analysts have Musk at a target price of $230.

News from Georgia has one seat going 'Blue' and the other odds on to turn giving Joe a clean sweep in Washington. Late on in the session the Dow crossed 31,000 for the first time ever, the last 1000 point rise taking just 21 days.
Gains were pared when an unruly mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building seeking to undo his election loss. One woman was killed by an unknown shooter when she gained entry to the building. The National Guard was called out as other cities saw similar protests.

On the NYSE 16•6bn shares were traded risers on a 1•72:1 ratio with 89 new 52s no new lows on the 500.

Wk to date 203•3k traded, buys 142•7k sells 60•6k buys outpacing sells 2•34:1, shares ticked up 1•25 wk to date. Cpo continues its run gaining $4 today and closing at $1000 after $1010 for the first time since early 2012. So far so good.

The wild ride on the escalator continues the great start to the year for Cpo up $13 ($1010/$801) this morning. Cifo(R) $1050. Cif(R) has risen 104% since the low of 5/2020.

At $1001 we move up a Tax & Duty band to $255 + $93 a
$23pt increase in statutory costs. The more these usorious costs can be dealt with by economies on the Estates the better.

All the major global mrkts gained the ftse clearly outpaced them all with a near 2% advance.

Wall was on the front foot from the Bell but slipped 80 to 30142 by 10am before bottom fishers pushed the Dow up 150 as London closed. Today is the last day of the Santa Rally which looks to be an average one given covid spoiled the festivities for everyone (see next post).

Back in the real world, Investors are preoccupied by events in Georgia, a 'Red' State for decades where the Democrats have the edge in winning the 2 Senate seats up for grabs. If they succeed it will give Biden control of both Houses. A goodly few in the investment community fear a Biden clean sweep will lead to higher taxes, policy extremes & a lousy stock mrkt. No doubt Wall will adapt and confoundingly equities do as well under the Democrats as the Republicans.

Energy stocks rose 5% on the back of higher crude prices as S.Arabia surprisingly agreed to an extra 1m bopd cut in Feb & March. On the mrkt Utilities & Consumer staples were all lower. Faangs were mixed to flat, Airlines & Cruises recouped most of yesterday's losses, planes up between 2%-4% & ships c.2%-3%. Healthcare one of 2020 best sectors hit a record high.

Punter fav Tesla continues its winning way up $18 to ($752) as investors expect the Co to grow Manufacturing capacity to enable 750,000 vehicles to leave the plant this year that's a 50% growth. Musk reckons 1,000,000 deliveries is in sight. Boeing which slumped yesterday pulled back $9 to $212 but has lost $120 since Jan 3, 2020, a big covid casualty.

Morning all.

Cpo rebounds strongly from the sell down yesterday gaining $23 to $996/Cif-R $1050. Rea slipped 0•25 as you'd expect on c.127•8k traded today, buys c.77•4k, sells c.50•3k on 29 bargains most of them from 4:00pm.

So no change in the overall
sentiment towards REA. Investors still await to be convinced the company is a recovery stock. Atm its not acting like one.

Don't follow Bitcon these days excepting the Mogadishu Exc it was the highest gainer on the year soaring more than Tesla a staggering 759%.

If Warren Buffet gives it his stamp of approval, since hotly denied by the Sage, it must be kosher....right? Not for me. I mean who the hell understands it? It has no intrinsic value and is only worth what the next man is prepared to pay. Knew of a chap who was big into Bitcon some years ago and lost his lot. He hasn't been seen since in my local since.

Obviously the winners swear its been their best Investment since Sliced Bread plc. I prefer the solid qualities of Sourdough!

Master Investor profiles two London palm stocks as worthy of your consideration...don't panic REA ain't one of them.

Mpe whose valuation is too low is tipped by finnCap. Price objective is (think of a nos) 1000. Profits are forecast to hit £30m in 2021.

Dekel Agri (4•45) is on Broker Ardens buy lists looking for 8p in due course. Dkl was the best London quoted plantation performer last year gaining 34%.

The crazy ftse likes UK lockdowns up 20...oh yes its lookin 12-18 months ahead! Who'se responsible for this twaddle?
