Sure - far lower density - in much of Europe - but emphasis on workers rights deters investment. When I was last in France workers had a standard working week but guaranteed overtime was the bar to productivity. profit
Here in the UK the productivity profit levels are low - output per individual not near an optimum level - and widely reported in the press.
