RE: UK not leaving ...accept it17 Mar 2019 19:52
Not over yet
Nearly 40 local party chairmen and longtime activists have told the Prime Minister that they are in an "absolute state of despair as to what is happening to democracy in this once great country of ours".
They add in an open letter, seen by The Sunday Telegraph, that if Mrs May cannot ensure that Britain leaves the EU as planned at the end of next week she should resign.
Conservative activists are increasingly angry about how MPs are trying to frustrate Brexit. Several Remain-supporting Tory MPs are facing no confidence votes from their local parties before the end of the month.
Sam Gyimah, the Remain-supporting former minister who quit over Brexit, is facing a no confidence motion at the annual meeting of East Surrey Conservatives next week on March 22.
In the open letter, the activists tell Mrs May to "honour" Britain's decision to leave the EU, adding: "Failure to do so is a denial of democracy itself and you personally will be held responsible for that great act of betrayal.
"The events of the past few days have shown the utter contempt of the people by Parliamentarians.
"The relentless attempts to cancel Brexit by any means is shameful and deplorable. Vote after vote, amendment after amendment are all based around denying the British people the independence they voted for
"The mere thought that a Conservative government, led by you, could put forward an amendment to delay Article 50 effectively denying the will of the people, is unforgivable
