With the issues in Hong Kong hanging over us I am starting to think that it may be a time to sell and perhaps buy back in Jan '20 if the picture has improved. What's the view on this?

No news likely in my opinion. The face of MTRO is impressive but when you see the changes taking place on the high street you can acknowledge that opening large branches is risky. Having worked for 25 years in the finance sector for a bank subsidiary, for me it is clear how costs will impact MTRO. Footfall will be an issue and the opening hours are long for our bank, bringing high staff costs. I wonder how many on this bb bank with MTRO.

Starting to see risks of MTRO & EUA as quite similar. No one has fully explained why MTRO has gone from £40 to 159p and some on that board have suggested it could drop to £1. So EUA at 3.1p looks quite strong to me, and is getting stronger by the day. The big question should I add to my EUA. Only thinking aloud. DYOR

Sold MTRO today, been in EUA for a couple of weeks. Plan to get back in MTRO at 210 or below. 100,000 EUA costs about £3000, whereas for that sum you get less than 1500 MTRO today. There seems a good chance of a 1p gain in EUA at any time, even the next 24 hours and for MTRO to produce a similar paper profit the price has to be 270p,spurious accuracy in the figs. but message is about right. In short term I reckon EUA is a better bet, whilst not overdoing the amount one invests, IMHO

Without predicting a price as such it looks set to be even closer to the peak, maybe a new peak by Friday. And then we can raise our glass to EUA. IMHO

over supply of oil now as I understand it. Our friends in the USA are now selling us oil from their fracking operations despite all their efforts to drink the stuff.

Mark you want to imagine yourself as someone who has held RBS long term, no way is MTRO frustrating.
Back before the crash RBS was giving me £8000 plus pa divs and then it gave me almost 10 years with nothing. Oh and it lost me the best part of £200,000 capital. LOL & GLA

The best advice is to segment the shares you hold in my opinion. Don't look to be all in or out but take cash/profits when you think the time is right. I bought some MTRO at 197 and sold today at 221. Now that's a profit and it may be the case that even tomorrow I can buy at 215 or less giving me more MTRO shares. Its easy to say poor me however you need to make decisions and go with them. Holding through thick and thin only serves to reduce your profit, because I did it for quite a long time. Jim Slater made his name by selling ahead of the majority; look him up. GLA
