Ex div date 26th March so we can expect a rise between now and then, followed by a drop, maybe some more good news will drive it up sooner.

Rose now has the scope to raise the dividend, or maintain it if trading conditions dictate, this approach is best for LTI's. Some of us have waited for RBS to pay a div. and can take the long view. GLA

What are the rules? Is there a period after which they are obliged to issue a RNS update? Not asking for an opinion but the facts so that I can be informed. If this could drag on for weeks, its going to be unsettling without information. Of course the suspension does at least stop you selling in a panic.

How can you justify 34%, and I know others are charging 40%. Cheaper to use a credit card. Ten years from now it will be seen as a PPI type scandal. Another ****-up(technical term) IMO.

Uncertainty; yes results were good but the markets are not convinced RBS can deliver going forward. We need to see an interest rate rise to get bank shares moving IMO.

For me I would be happy to see the share back being traded and with some good news on the payment of a dividend, for me that would sit comfortably with long term investment. GLA

Yes you have it one. The tele license funds the BBC, which I want to keep, but I don't pay a penny toward the beeb as no TV.
Purchase tax not at the same rate on everything, so food could be nil rate but flights say 50% to help keep people on the ground(climate change). IHT is so wrong IMO as you should be able to pass your house to your kids tax free, but only pass one property per person. Extra fuel tax, use it to improve roads and public transport whereas it now gets lost in the big pot. Get rid of the 'bomb', just an enormous waste of money( added that to wind a few people up if they are reading).

Do away with income tax altogether just tax on the goods e.g. VAT and you choose where and when you spend/save.
No CGT
No IHT
No tax relief
And so on

Why should you get tax relief on your pension contributions when you don't on say the money you spend on clothing etc.? You don't pay much in income tax now in 2020, compared with a top rate of 83p back in the 1970's and if you had a lot of investment income then you could pay 98p.

Theosus, agree it may reduce money going into markets in the short term but it should mean the poor are not propping up the rich so much. In my day we had tax relief on mortgage interest, and tax relief on life assurance premiums, this move on pensions is long overdue IMHO

Barclays FYR give the markets reason to have belief in bank shares once again, fingers crossed.

Joined the world of banking back in 1973 when the procedures around lending were quite straightforward but that has all changed. Back then the banks kept something back for a rainy day whereas in more recent time they have been lending more than they have got. We now have stress testing but it gives limited reassurance, or no reassurance at all depending on your viewpoint. If the truth be known MTRO is probably fairly sound but needs to be bigger to convince the markets.

Many more to pay out. The employees are going to get a good share from what we can see, which is only fair IMHO.
