MM's trying to scare people out of their shares, I have a feeling we may have an SP increasing piece of news in the offing.

The tumbling SP here is enough grief for me Cygnus7.
If we don't get some direction from CB and BOD soon we will be in the 3's before we know it.

In the meantime the drop in the SP is pretty painful for us LTH, just dropped another 4% on no volume...................

Manipulation, when enough money has been shaken out of the system it will rise back up 20% again

Copper is still 50% higher than when bought BR though, the world needs copper and short term price fluctuations shouldn't be much of a worry in the long run.

A couple of years ago Barclays stuffed up a payment into my account and I couldn't buy some I3E shares when I wanted to. I t took three days to sort it out, in the meantime I3E shares went up several % points, I complained and they gave me £270 in compensation.

That's exactly what I meant, a Chinese bid would be more than BHP are willing to pay. They aren't a company with shareholders, they are spending govt money in a country where they don't have to worry what the population thinks as they have no say. they could buy Solg out and mothball it indefinitely ( if the Equadorean govt agree).
I know it's a simplistic view but it's fundamentally a sound one.

If that report of the Chinese govt is true I think that BHP will find themselves out voted when a bid comes in from the East.
The Chinese intend to dominate the commodities sector as they know what you pay is irrelevant when you own so much that you dictate the price. That's their intention in the long run, the East is slowly taking over and the West cannot stop it using their existing methods. Whilst BHP et al fanny about playing games the Chinese will just take it from under their noses. The available resources on this planet aren't keeping up with demand, we will be buying copper from the Chinese at a price THEY dictate as we will have no choice. A strong bid will look cheap with time..

If the Chinese made a bid it would put the willies up BHP for sure.

I'm with Barclays, they are terrible, usually get dividends after hours on the payment day.

I think we may finish blue today, the market doesn't like uncertainty, the "sell on news" period was shortlived and some big buys being printed.

It's the porphry that could be UNDER Ascot that is the interest here, one with TONS of gold in it !

I disagree, the Ascot drills were to test the extremities of the area and have found them, are you counting all the other Ascot drills in your summation ?
Now we know footrot won't come to much we are so much closer to a decision to mine and an offer from AA as we have a much better understanding of what we have and have less of a chance of "giving away a Cadia"

You'd think after 40 years of being a superior investor that you wouldn't have time to post here constantly due to flitting by private jet between your Superyacht, the Monaco apartment and the house in Belgravia.
More chance of a bid than ever, do you think BHP want to be diluted when they can buy the shares they don't already own for a not much more than the money they'll lose in the other scenario ?
