If you look at the sea of red on the indices on Bloomberg, GGP is holding its ground well today. I think the most intrepid of traders are a little reluctant to play with any sizeable funds here. I hope that was not the kiss of death but on the other hand I would like to achieve GH's buy in price from the other day with another top up!

Whether blue today or not who knows. I do think however that few businesses in the UK will remain unscathed in profitability and productivity terms as a result of the virus. Given our funding position and remote nature of the exploration site, together with forthcoming news, institutional investors might be thinking about rewriting their rules as they search for homes for liquidated investments. Time will tell.
Whilst I am very concerned about elderly relatives I am not concerned about my investment here....quite the opposite.

Jersey Oil and Gas remains fully funded to deliver the concept select work we are progressing on our Greater Buchan Area ("GBA") development. We benefit from having no debt and on current plans the company has sufficient working capital through to the end of 2021, prior to any proceeds from our planned sale of a part interest in our GBA project, the process for which is expected to be launched later this year. Cost control continues to be monitored closely by our Board. Our year end 2019 unaudited cash position was £12.3m. JOG's core GBA asset base is estimated to hold more than 140 million barrels of oil equivalent ("mmboe") of discovered and recoverable oil volumes and more than 230 mmboe of exploration upside net to JOG. With further area collaboration across the wider GBA, there is a potential to produce more than 200 mmboe of discovered oil and gas resources.

I have an old fashioned view on shorting - it should not be allowed. You should own a stock before being able to sell it. Large sell offs create panic in the herd and fear is probably the largest weapon in the shorters armoury. Sentiment and speculation on why there are large sells more sells and that drives the price down and the shooters have made their profit. Nothing to do with the underlying company performance on many occasions and frankly goes against the grain in my eyes as to why the concept of limited companies were created - long term viable businesses that created jobs whilst spreading ownership risk.
Sorry for the rant and basic school classroom economics but gambling should be restricted to sport or games of change and not investments that underpin pensions.
Interesting day ahead given the gains on ASX and particularly gold stocks - some up 20% overnight.

so next quarterly update due from Newcrest 30th April or anything expected prior to that? If so, not so long in the scheme of things!

Those are the sort of rumours that end with no toilet paper of the shelves......without foundation.

It might be politically incorrect to identify positives with so much world wide misery at the moment but my comments and views are solely aimed at GGP related issues:
- I believe gold will rebound and will be a safe haven in the months and potentially years to come
- GGP is funded for it's exploration plans
- Newcrest need Haverion to come on line - to the best of my knowledge they have the cash to see this to the end. Gold miners are by their very nature long term players - they operate on 20 year plus plans.
I am not sure what other basic facts need to be highlighted other than look at the present market cap of GGP and the future potential and decide where you think we are on the risk / potential reward scale here....

In the way that biotech will be valued and invested in going forward in my opinion and frankly that should extend well into international government funding. Covid-19 is bad enough but it does not take a biotech scientist to realise that there will be worse to come. Today's anxiety and fears will dissipate in the years to come and humanity goes back on it's journey of global self destruction but nature is an amazing thing and life in the form of viruses will continue to mutate and grow stronger in their quest for survival with humans acting as their dumb hosts. What is going to help ease the spread pain and suffering - constant evolution of scientific research and know how.
In the meantime, lets hope that the planet get a temporary respite from our excesses and communities start to realise just what is important in terms of looking after each other. I hope that I am not being too optimistic / naive here.

Investors will join the dots - that could be the time that we get some substantial buyers move in here. Lets see.

We see panic buying in the supermarkets and panic selling in the financial markets. Both are over reactions but we all know that - just does not stop the herd mentality. Just remember the underlying commodity here and where gold is heading in the months to come. The current volatility provides further buy-in opportunities but frankly I am sitting on my hands at the moment as who knows where this is going short term. I am not selling though - my experiences have always been bad when I try and by clever in these situations!

I don't think a waste of time - old news yes, but still relevant and an opportunity to showcase the company in the markets eyes. Think of it as an advertisement but it needed to have justification to be eligible for an RNS imo.
