I have been reading with interest the theories on how negotiations might go.
My personal view is that NC and GGP are in a symbiotic relationship that is working well and it is in brothers interest to rock the boat going forward. So to my thinking that means no games on either side. Both will want a fair deal that will be acceptable to both sets of shareholders.
There is no reason to hold back Scallywag. It serves no purpose and early positive results could only be beneficial in enticing NC to making an early farm in agreement on that prospect. I know that we like to think of the negotiations as some game of poker but in this case both players know exactly what hand the other is holding and win win is the best outcome when considering future deals.

A takeover is inconceivable imo for so many reasons, valuation being the main one.

Purchase of 100% of Back on as it stands is highly likely.

Just a reminder of the farm in agreement:
Additionally, during the farm-in period, Newcrest will have a first right of refusal over the remainder of Greatland's Paterson project (Black Hills, Paterson Range East and remaining areas of Havieron licence).
So I guess NC have until the end of Stage 4 to make a play unless another player game in with an offer and then NC would have the right of first refusal. One would have thought the quicker that NC make an offer then the more advantageous the terms for them. Quite the game of chess could start to unfold when Scallywag exploration gets under way.
Given the proximity of the Telfer process plant it would be extremely surprising if an NC offer could be bettered but nice if there was another interested party to raise the stakes.

ok - found myself a useful site - time for an old dog to teach himself new tricks!

I was wondering whether that was in connection with a potential decline last week in my post - I was asking for more knowledgable posters would know whether it was a straight long tunnel or something like a spiral? A quick search on google shows that declines are normally 6 to 10 degrees below the horizontal - for those with a little more current maths understanding, does that make sense given the distance of the southern hole to the base of the core of current activity?
My questions might well be very naive so please understand I know nothing about mining!

I posted after closing I thought the price was close to 4.4. I think we should be showing blue at this point today.

Fleccy. You are ignoring the millions already lent to SME's prior to Coronavirus not to mention the millions in personal loans, often to people with no underlying assets who could well struggle to pay. Lloyds could have withstood this without stopping the dividend but it was the prudent thing to do and the regulatory and political compulsion would have made the decision to pay a dividend commercial suicide.
There is a reason Bank staff are considered key workers in this pandemic. They are not putting their lives on the line like the true heroes and heroines within the NHS / care home and the like but the whole infrastructure around which we live has money transmission and availability of credit at the heart of it.
The Banks will do their level best with hard working staff working long hours having very difficult conversations with people in understandably stressful states. It annoys me when people come on here bleating about misspelling PPI when I bet you 95% of the staff working in Banks were not even in the business when this was being sold.
I wish people would stop looking to the past and categorising Bank staff against cartoon characters that you have in your heads from the greedy 90's - that is not the case any more. There is an upper management layer that can easily afford to forego their bonuses and I hope they do - either voluntary or under compulsion but for the cashier on a low basic the odd few hundred of bonus can be very handy to make ends meet. There will be many past and preset staff I think reading this board because they trusted their employer and brought shares on share purchase schemes ....and many will be regretting having done so I am sure.

I think that the Banks are doing all that they can to support viable businesses - and that is the key - there will be no wish to throw money at businesses that were struggling pre Covid but the tabloids will not be reporting that story I bet you!

Whilst I certainly agree with the long term sentiment I fear that the timelines will be longer than we would like here. It is going to take at least 18 months post Covid for the businesses that survive to return anything like to the norm. I hope I am wrong!

If you go to the London Stock Exchange and select GGP and look at the end of dat trades - one trade for 100 shares at 4.8 - the rest are either 4.3 or 4.5 - I would say the true closing price is close to 4.4 and the 4.8 number is a glitch imo.

And I agree moneymaker given the BoD comment - all good here imo.

Check out page 17 of the unaudited half year financials dated 31/12/18 and look at his personal financial commitment here as a non exec chairman as opposed to the other directors and then consider your chosen wording - I would say you might have been a tad harsh without knowing his financial circumstances?

I suspect just market forces rather than games at the moment. Cash and liquidity is a priority for many understandably. We might get growing interest from Bank shareholders who have had had news on their divs and will be looking for alternative options for capital appreciation in the next 12 months.
The end of April results give us something to look forward to positively. I for one count my blessings on so many levels at the moment....health being top of the list.

My rule is never make assumptions about another person's circumstances unless you have walked in their shoes. What do you know about his situation in these times? I suspect this was a difficult decision prompted by extreme need in unprecedented times.

Whilst disappointing, not unexpected and absolutely the correct thing to do by a responsible company such as GGP. I posted the other day about managing my own expectations in the face of civic related delays and nothing has changed apart from the great news NC are commencing stage 3.
