Brown approached Blank and agreed to waive competition rules but Daniels oversaw and followed through without sufficient due diligence on the asset book - I maintain he was at the helm and as CEO could have created a huge question mark over the deal by not playing along or better still just walking.
AOH has been rebuilding the Bank from these tatters ever since and it's capital base as a result is one the strongest in the UK financial system to weather these storms but we are hitting on in a one in a hundred year stress scenario and investors need to see the challenges ahead for what they are.

Investors should remember that Daniels was at the helm when we collided with the iceberg HBOS....

What would you have a new CEO do differently in these current uncertain times that stacks up as a viable plan against the Groups stated objectives of supporting Putting Customers First / Keeping It Simple / Making a Difference together?
Always interested in reading well thought out constructive suggestions.
I am struggling to come up with a better plan than the one being executed at the moment but I am sure many will have suggestions?

Thanks Chris. I would imagine that the risk \ reward scenario here will be very attractive for investors with the future direction of the POG.
It is going to be interesting to see the impact on the SP here when funding is announced and the plan and timescale to production. We are certainly in on the ground floor with huge potential upside here.

TomE imo traders are watching other traders and trying to be one step ahead. At the moment it has nothing to do with the future and the amazing g potential here that most certainly will monetise at some point. In the meantime the positive is that for those with available funds it presents lower entry points. Short term obsession with the SP is for traders only or as I have said if you have cash and decide g when to enter. Frankly anytime is good to enter at the moment again imo.

Hi Jamesroo - yes the 50% fall has certainly taken place for that reason - my observation and thoughts on the matter is that the Bank (s) is in the same position as the government regarding Covid - no one knows for certain the length and severity of the impact. I think that Lloyds are taking a prudent first step in the provisioning but the reality is that no one knows at the moment the longer term economic and social impacts that Covid will bring. I am fully expecting the next few quarterly updates to include additional impairments as the picture unfolds. What the impact on the SP time will tell but I expecting a fluctuation between the current SP and 25/26p for the rest of 2020. I hope I am very wrong.

The SP is holding up remarkably well at the moment.
The unfortunate (an understatement if ever there was one!) reality is that the economic impact on both the UK and world economy will take years to come through and that is without the awful possibility of second waves of Covid in the winter months.
The Bank is well ran despite what many think on here and the country needs conservative Bank more that at any other time in recent history. This will be like PPI in that there will be further impairments to come over the next few years. People will borrow less new money and try and save more. The low interest rate environment will continue for years to come and that creates continued challenges for the Bank's to make money.

Is that part of your plan MrEMC2? These are the times when it is good to have recorded your plan and then stick to it and the facts - not what others are doing around you. Whatever your decision it sounds like you will have made or will make money os not a bad place to be.

I suspect we have a number of these 'pre quarter update' days of contemplation over the next year or so - I wonder whether they all will create the same number of butterflies in our stomachs? Probably!

Many traders simply hold to the mantra of sell on news irrespective of the facts and believe others will do the same, sometimes creating a self fulfilling prophecy of a drop in SP and sometimes not. If it did it would be incredibly short lived here imo. Personally on this occasion I would be very surprised if it happens. Interesting to observe but immaterial even in the very short term.
