They took an initial civic impairment charge of 2.1B. Watch for Lloyds number later this week. Like PPI I fear this will just be the start.
So much rides on a vaccine being found soon on same many levels globally.

I have to admit that I just do not understand the basis for the 8% rise today.
Can someone explain why they think this has happened?
I am bracing myself for some hefty provisioning in the light of anticipated Covid related impairments - both in credit cards. personal loans and possibly car finance. Mortgages will take a while longer depending on how hard this bites into house prices.
Lloyds is a well managed business and absolutely playing their part in their mission statement of Helping Britain Prosper - let me change that for the present time - Helping Britain Survive! but I just didn't understand the uptick today other than some Barclays analysts naming them as preferred Banking stock.
Before you label me - I have now learned to announce my credentials after challenges from other posters - invested for over 35 years (it gets to a time when it is difficult to be precise!) and a die hard Lloyds advocate. I just don't understand the justification for todays rise and hope it is not a false dawn before results are announced together with I suspect a heavily worded word of caution on market expectations for the rest of the year.

Dan - you might want to think bigger picture - how many multiples from this share price and in what time frame? That is the question that interests me personally.

With 77 recommendations I think that I can safely observe that your post has been warmly received Tig! Never seen that number or anywhere like it before. It does go to show how many people watch this BB but might never post. Well done sir!

I can only imagine how the satellite images will make even more compulsive viewing as the top cover starts to be removed.

I hope that everyone has a plan (or plans) - these are the days either to turn off the screen or revisit your plan which you wrote without the distraction of price movements but with all the known facts in front of you.
If you believe as I believe that based on known facts (RNS releases) and evidence (PaddySat updates) that NC continue to prove up Haverion, then it is only a question of time when this will translate into a positive impact on the SP. I have long since stopped trying to second guess short term market movements - they continue to surprise me, which they shouldn't I know but then we do live in a world where the leader of the USA is questioning whether it would be a good idea to look at injecting ourselves with disinfectant - the writers of The Simpsons would have struggled to come up with that one so go figure.
Looking forward to tomorrow nights update but in the meantime can someone just remind me how much this share has increased in the last 10 days?

Hi FB - actually that is not uncommon - the process of writing down a plan helps the brain rationalise and compartmentalise - it also helps you reflect in your subconscious as well as consciously - and it probably your subconscious that is actually causing you to revise plans as that drives human behaviour more than most realise. The psychology of this is fascinating and the more you understand was it driving you, the more you understand why you are feeling what you are feeling now. Some here will be getting anxious as the price increases but might not understand why and it will be different for different people based on their life experiences. That is why counselling can help uncover things that people don't realise about themselves.

Sorry to go of at a tangent as I know you reply was light hearted but I suspect that the reality is that many people are juggling in their mind how to react at the moment to this upward trajectory. The background fears of Covid and what that can do to our family and friends will be also acting as a drag factor I suspect in our normal risk / reward calculations - again either consciously or unconsciously.
Anyway - nice to see the SP bounce a little further up as I have typed this - mmmmm what does that say about me? I will have to think about that one!

Can I suggest now more than ever you actually commit your strategy to paper (or word doc!). Change your strategy on news - not on other investors short term trading patterns. The fundamentals of this company and the potential backed by official news releases and updates, together with global economic forecasts including the POG, should be the only thing that deviates you from your path and goal. Refer to your plan often and update / revise as required and then stick to it all other things being equal.
To rehash Churchill (and now Boris) - this is not the start of the end but maybe we are nearing the end of the beginning for what could could an epic GGP journey with it's portfolio of prospects.

There have been huge advancements in mining techniques since these mines were closed - interesting to see whether there are other blind veins that can be uncovered through further exploratory drilling?

Dsmith. I have not read the board since noon. As far as I know no news has been announced. So all is good. If some on her want to sell so be it. Count up those posters and take a guess at their holdings and how they might impact on the SP. Let me paint an analogy. You put your hand in a bucket of water and take it out. What impact does it have on the level and for how long. Do not be distracted from your goal.

Grain not brain!

Interest g observation Badshah. If people are feeling this way it might be because they are starting to feel like this is some form of ponzi scheme. It isn,t. This is supported by the most robust commodity outside of brain and rice in the history of mankind.
The other observation which might sound strange is that a build up of paper wealth can be very unsettling for some. Sound strange but true. The fear of losing g something even though you have never had it in your hands can play tricks on your mind. Thoughts like this happens to there (wealth accumulation) but not me surely can actually create a stressful situation.
Understanding your own thought on the issue can help you in your financial planning and creating a physical list of your thoughts can help you step back and look at yourself. I am talking to people at the moment about covid and there thoughts at the moment and advocating a similar approach to try and understand their feelings and fears.

Red I agree NC might want to takeover but the question is how given the stated intentions of the BoD and the question of valuation. I have an open mind on the subject but I am struggling to see how a deal could be made at this juncture which will be acceptable to both sets of shareholders. Do you have a view how that might be overcome? Genuine question to anyone who can reconcile that quandary for me.

Lots of debate on whether the SP will retrace on good news and profit takers. My take for what it is worth.....yes some will take profit but remember why the SP moved in the first place .....good news! Any slight retrace in my view will be very short lived as new investors join the party. Nothing to worry about and frankly very natural. Maybe an opportunity to trade but I personally will not risk it because I am useless at trading.
