I agree that nationalism / populism are the biggest threats to MCPP. However, considering the Tanzanian power demand is growing at 10-15% per year you are in a scenario that demand is going to double in the next 5/6 years at current projections. Only a handful of Gas Projects and MCPP can possibly come on line in that timeframe. It’s just a case of binding our time and this comes to fruition IMHO as their alternative options run dry. JD

Agree, Dave. The Mchuchuma and Liganga joint coal, power and iron ore project was put at a cost of $3b and that was a few years back and from a government agency that is broke?! It’s a bit like Stiegler’s Gorge, sounds great, but they don’t have a clue how to implement such an undertaking and can’t possibly find it. It’s the reason IMHO why MCPP will happen as it will ultimately present itself as the most compelling, low cost option. The only reason it has got this far is because it has been a 100% independent project that the government hasn’t been allowed to cock up. JD

Not Amused, As the 7th Q&A on that article clearly points out the NDC have no PPP Protects in the pipeline, that is not how they are set up. They are set up to to be Joint Ventures in conjunction with private companies and then try and negiotate a PPA (in an instance of a Mine to Mouth Coal Power Plant) just in the exact same way Kibo have to do. The fact is they, just like us, have to negiotate a commercial compelling project / tariff for Tanesco to agree. As MCPP is a IPP it by passes NDC altogether. On a project specific basis, I suggest you google some of those power plants / coal projects. They are going nowhere, just like all their coal power plant projects, stuck nowhere, the NDC are useless. All of these projects are nowhere near advanced or shovel ready as MCPP. JD

Some have just got a little too carried away with themselves, you all seem to be working yourself (unnecessarily IMHO) in a tizzy over the release of a decent set of interim results. Debt free, cash on books and a reduced cash burn is what I take from those results, nothing else. We have great times ahead of us, SEPCO Investment, PPA, SML and F.C on MCPP plus a Licence application at MCIPP, Benga will probably be due an update, the new UK investment will come to Due Diligence soon and I think we are due another large well developed African project to be named (just a feeling). Huge amount of news to start coming out of Kibo Energy PLC. Relax and enjoy the news flows. JD

Indeed, Mike. Of course the £500k from the Irish Investors won't show up in those accounts as it was a month after the accounting period. The aim obviously as per the 3 July RNS is to have a sizable chunk of cash come our way with sepco on or around end of Q3 2018 and then realise $3.7m more on MCPP FC. short to medium term working capital should be an issue on those two things coming to fruition. In a company of SEPCO’s, etc we are becoming less and less relevant that’s just natural in the company’s evolution. I for one don’t mind it one bit, the more institutional cash controls this company the better it will be for us long term. JD

Interestingly, that is going to be done in conjunction with Intra Energy, the same Intra Energy (who owns 70% of Tancoal) who is in danger of having the Ngaka Coal Mone from which nearly all of Tanzania’s coal comes from placed into Administration for 2 years due to a bust up with their subcontractor. The aspect I disagree with in this article is how can it possibly be prudent to pan putting all of your eggs in one basket with Hydro but then advocate putting all your eggs in one basket with Wind. You surely need a diversified portfolio of all energy sources as history tells us? That is even before we get to the fact that Wind is not really BASE load as it’s timings can be relied on. JD

Not just that SYM, when looking at the structure of KIBO Energy PLC after the SEPCO3 buy in, you also have to conclude that SEPCO3 will have a large say on who gets first ‘dibs’ on the equity / loan partition of MCPP.
