To many have come to believe that this delay is either a slight on the Management or seem to think that the TG are delaying MCPP by exception, forgetting the fact that all mining licences nationwide have been in lockdown going on 18 months now. What appears to be the reality on the ground (as evidenced by the TG spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a new train system but having no electricity to power it) is Kibo must be fighting daily against an utter sshhiitt show how utter incompetence and bureaucracy on a scale few of us can imagine in the west. They are clearly getting to the end of the road where it has no more room for the can to be kicked down and we are a ‘shovel ready’ project. Perseverance as Honest Abe once said. JD

Only happens every 3 years, so a big deal for SINO / AFRICAN development relations. At the previous summit is 2015 (in Jo’Burg) lots of deals / projects where announced. Might be a nice time to announce MCPP?

Good find, Wimbo. Another clue as to why SEPCO have been brought in here I think. As we discussed on here a few weeks back, the size of our company (our AIM peers have also struggled) is clearly an impediment in certain respects when trying to negotiate something so big, SEPCO via the Chinese State (OBOR or whatever guise) is clearly a help.

Tanzania are hardly a standout here, Mozambique has a GDP per capita well below that of Tanzania. This has been Africa’s issue for decades now and has crushed growth. If they can just do the simple things right they will be better n for epic growth coming off such low levels, it’s an ‘if’ of course. Stiegler’s Gorge Dam Hydro Project is the epitome of the issue here, multi billion dollar pipe dreams when you could do the same in Gas and coal for half the price in half the time. JD

Hard to know, O&W. But to me it appears that the SML must have had a delaying effect on the PPA discussions. They'll come as one withing a few weeks of each other i would imagine as both have the requirements of how it is funded. They are practically inseparable and I think the 'local content' update could have delayed everything. End of October for SML and PPA is what I think, currently. Of course, Botswana ML will be subitted by end of September in its own right. JD

Maybe, maybe not! I can’t remember seeing that the PPA / SML was a requirement for the SDA being signed nor agreeing an SP? It may be that it is, I don’t know. JD

It’s a ridiculous position for the TG to have gotten themselves into, the money lost as a percentage of gdp these last few years for what is one of the poorest countries in the world is almost criminal allowing the mining industry to come to a halt like this. JD

I doubt it’s that simple in Tanzania in 2018. Anything of this size and scope will need the big man’s nod I would have thought! JD

Three large scale CTPP running into the $ billions in Construction contract CAPEX (which you get as a gimme), up to 25% equity in the parent company of each project SPV (they’ll be further projects announced of course) and your foot in the door of one of the fastest growing regions in the world. When you put it like that it really should be multiples of this SP. JD

I think that’s the striking thing, what is £11m or any of these numbers really for a Chinese State Monster? Not a lot! JD
