There has been comment about Stuart's share package. It seems to me v performance linked and so no one should be overconcerned. I bought into the company mainly because I had great faith in Stuart's deep-down understanding of the business he is running, and much more than that, his amazing connection to the wants of his customers. The guy seems to have no home life....even at weekends he is fully occupied. They say retail is detail and that is why Stuart is crucial to this company. 1onthe up and I have a view on MKS' future. My feeling is that a deal with Amazon would give Stuart a huge advantage. Others here more knowledgable will correct me but Amazon would not just be able to get Stuart to where he wants to be faster but also manage the international issues. If I were Stuart I would welcome Amazon on board.

2 m serious bits of financial info stolen by hackers

Every day I get calls from scamners on my mobile. Even had MKS not been hacked the same would occur. All this stuff is out there. Good luck to those ambulance chasing law firms. They know they won't win but I suppose will collect enough front end fees to make it worthwhile. Probably the same bunch of sharks who went after the veterans. The legal profession in this country is an utter disgrace and the SRA worse.

It will stretch credibility if Stuart does his dour Scot presentation: if he does I will be v nervous. He really needs to be super bullish and close the chapter and point the way to sunny uplands. I have grave doubts about the incumbent financial pr's advice. To date it's been really back foot

I do not believe that MKS will be the subject of a contested bid. Institutions have done well out of Machin and Norman but if out of all this comes the sensation that more could have been done then it does leave the door open for Amazon to sniff around. An agreed bid leaving Machin to carry on his good work might be the solution. Maybe MKS needs more investment to support online?

This company really needs to get shot of its FPR company. They are just clueless and reactive.

At the end of the day all rumours as to how the hack happened. Substantiating that particular rumour will be virtually impossible. The other fact this..... every year, hundreds of companies are hacked. It is a fact of commercial life. If, as an insurer, it is a risk you don't want to underwrite, then don't write the b*****dy business. You cannot have it all ways.

You may be right. I suppose it all turns on how the insurer intends to wriggle out of any claim. From the my ignorant perspective I struggle to find grounds from which to contest a claim without looking as if acting in bad faith. Allianz has many FTSE 250 and 100 clients. Were I the CEO of any one of them and I saw my insurer playing games I would ditch Allianz fast. pay up and take the kudos . Worth a fortune in PR!

I don't come from an insurance background, but I 100% agree. Arguing the toss would be highly damaging to credibility. Nothing looks worse than squabbling with a major quoted company. As you say, it would be impossible to make a negligence claim stand up.

Yes, I see your point but having a wrangle with a FTSE 100 blue chip and trying to shuffle out of a claim will not be a good look and will scare other client co's

Are the days of 350 gone forever? Thinking about how the financial press may treat the results much will depend on the feedback they get from their tame analyst source. This is why the company really needs to have the analysts 100% onboard. There is also another aspect....maybe we are so fed up with the cyber story(especially if all fixed) that the media will think it old news and focus on future prospects. I see your dilemma Fender. The bigger issue for me is the comms between the co and investors when results come out. If they are not upbeat then I am a bit fearful. I think the insurance is a bit of red herring as we have no idea whether the insurers will try to wriggle out. Having said that I assume Allianz and Beazeley(sic?) are providing cyber cover for a load of plc's so would not wish reputational damage by arguing the toss too much.

I am in for the long/medium term. I will get v nervous if there are a raft of downgrades

Buffaloben. As a raw investor would you say that IAG isa stock that Buffett would consider well moated? I am very risk averse.
